Found this book on Goodreads in 2018. I didn’t read much of it so I can’t say much about the plot but it’s about this group of friends discovering some secret about their neighborhood or town. It starts at the 13th birthday party of a the MC’s friend Theo, and he announces that he’s chosen puzzles as his talent- something people pick when they turn thirteen. It’s specifically mentioned that the MC thinks his mom pressured him into that. The MC has another friend named Julia who’s into sports and boy-crazy for her age.
The blurb mentions that the MC likes reading and growing things, and she meets another girl (whose name is something like Ilona?) with similar interests. The MC also wishes there was an artistic talent, but it apparently hasn’t been discovered yet.
-The MC and her friends eventually learn Ilona’s an android.
