Alannah | 5 comments So I read a book from my school's library, it was a Young Adult book when I was in high school around 2007-2011. It had a strange cover of a house and a tree. The author was published but not that famous (not like Phillip Reeve who came to our school or Marcus Sedgwick).
It was about a young girl and her sister (one of the sisters was really a bookish person than the other who liked boys and parties).
They moved into an old house and had a room together. They find some weird artefacts inside the room belonging to girls in the past. They meet a boy, a really emo strange young man who wants them to come to his world and away from their own lives and family. It was like Alice in Wonderland but with forbidden love and a dark world.
The outgoing sister falls into his trap or the other one (can't really remember) and so the other sister has to get her away from the man because he wrote her name down on paper or had squiggled it out since she needed a name to escape.
I have been wanting to re-read books from my childhood and this one keeps sticking out in my mind but I had forgotten the title and author.

Alannah | 5 comments Also it was like a story of the boy who was a ghost who lured these girls out from the house and kidnapped them, they had all of their names stolen by him.
I think it had five girls in it, I am not sure.

Everything I've read about it indicates it's sexist and disturbing. The ghost is quite evil.

Alannah ~~
You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 173 where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!

Alannah, can you tell us more about the cover with a house and tree, and what made the cover strange?

Can you tell us more about the girls' parents and their jobs/skills? Why did they move?

What's the modern day setting -- year and country/region/city/town?
