Circe has always been painted (in everything I've been exposed to) as a treacherous villain, manipulating those around her. I love the approach Miller takes with her, explaining her motivations and drawing my compassion out for the character. I'm not sure I'll still feel this way by the end of the book, but this twist is fairly stated at this point in the book. The Gods are shallow and destructive and mischievous and Circe is just coping with that kind of existence.
I love the Minotaur story. Ever since my first read of House of Leaves I have enjoyed the retellings of the myth. This section of the book really feels like the highlight of the story so far (I'm in Chapter 21). It's the most "show, don't tell" section of the book.
Minotaur! That was crazy.
Also... I love how Miller writes Daedalus.
