Hey guys! This week I'm reading When Dimple Met Rishi, X, Two Dark Reigns (which already has a thread), and The Hundred Secret Senses if anyone wants to BR. It would be a good way to grab some more points.

Agne | 1753 comments Hey, I marked 3 of my books on SS purple. It means I am going to read them, but it's not my priority and I can review then anytime next month and if you have something in it's place to finish our crossword sooner feel free to put your books in its places.
I've finished Vengeful, but i think I'll only post my review tomorrow. I also want to finish King of Scars this month and it's my priority, because it's BOTM so it gives us more points.

I'm in the middle of one right now that could replace the W you marked purple. If it's still available when I finish (tonight or tomorrow) then I'll put it in that spot.

message 207: by Erica (new)

Erica Paré | 2080 comments I have a quick question. I see we have lots of books on the spreadsheet that are not even marked as started. If we have finished a book that could go in one of those spots are we bumping books or just putting the finished book under banked books? I just find that there are some people who have lots of spots filled out but all show not even started.

I'm not a mod or even a team leader, but I would agree with you that if there are some unstarted books in the SS, we should move those to banked or something if there are other books that we've read that fit the letters. We want to get as far ahead in the crossword as we can, and if we can move on to the next one soon, that would be great. Personally, I haven't logged any of my planned books that I'm not already reading because I'd rather add books as I finish them, or at least when I know I will be finishing them.

message 209: by Agne (new)

Agne | 1753 comments I like to mark my TBR, because I always plan my reads (I try to do as many buddy reads as possible for more points). But I am always down with moving my books around or to banked books.
I think the problem is not with marking books on SS, but that people won't get offended when their book is moved. :/

That makes sense too. Still, I think if we say on this chat, "I'm going to move xxx's unstarted book in yyy spot, and replace it with my book, zzz," it gives fair warning if someone really wants to keep their book there.

message 211: by Dr. Andy (new)

Dr. Andy | 10329 comments Yeah I made the banked books tab for books that haven't been started/finished. Some people's finished books will probably end up on it as well since we're getting really close to finishing. If I have time this weekend I'll look through the books and try to move things to the more uncommon letters

Sounds good. I'll move all my stuff out that isn't started so people can fill those spots asap. Also, I moved one of the purple highlighted books and replaced it with mine because I'll be finishing it tonight.

message 217: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments Feel free to move my two books around if needed. I will definitely be finishing Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe by March 4th or 5th, since that is on my school reading schedule, but I can wait to post it if someone needs that spot (second "t" in 5 down). I've got Hidden Figures The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly in the second "u" in 4 across, since I didn't think others would necessarily have a "u" book (it's the Polish edition btw), but if someone does or has an alternate title that would work there, that's fine with me as well. We're so close guys!

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments You guys, I'm kind of in a reading slump. I finished The Radium Girls The Dark Story of America's Shining Women by Kate Moore and I'm trying to read Hidden Figures The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly but it's just not holding my attention. Sometimes when I get like this it's really hard for me to pick up anything new. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

HELLO EVERYONE!

I know that some people know that the end of every month is super busy for me at work. Since it's the last day of February.. I've been extremely busy. I barely have time to check GR or even update the books I'm listening to (which is sad). That being said, scores probably wont be done until tonight. No idea when I will get a break or when I will be off of work.

If they aren't done tonight then they could be done tomorrow morning.. or tomorrow afternoon. I do have a lunch meeting scheduled but other than that I'll be super free. Again, super sorry about scores but I will try to get them done as soon as possible!

I see that Cindee has a book in for the C in 3 down that isn't started, but there's a finished one (Phoenix: Steel MCs by Evie Monroe) in the banked books. Should we move those around?

Ok, so I was clearly not thinking straight when I made the comment earlier because that one book doesn't work for the C letter. BUT, I did switch Cindee's "Daughter of the Siren Queen" to the bank, and I put Bookworm's "The War I Finally Won" in that spot (using the dutch version). That'll count as soon as Bookworm posts the review

What is the book? Can you check if it has an alternate title starting with U? Or an author? If you want you can take my Hidden Figures spot.

Although I would actually say you should take one of Cindee's spots, because she has five books listed as not started. I might actually end up doing that as well.

The book that I am reading does not have an authors name that begins with U. The book I am reading is Landline by Rainbow Rowell which is why I wanted it to go in the R space.

Team,

I'm a bit confused as to why you have #3 Across looking like it's completed when on my tracker I show that you all haven't posted for the letter E? If you would like the points for the book, please post it :)

message 242: by Anna (last edited Mar 03, 2019 12:17AM) (new)

Anna | 427 comments Also, would it be alright to start putting books that have been started but not finished into the banked books section? I have a couple of finished books banked that would fit into the crossword but can't get them in atm. I don't want to do that if someone is close to finishing their book or anything but it's hard to tell if a book has been abandoned or if it's close to being finished!

Edit: Never mind, I didn't see Andrea's posts here properly!

I put Cindee's book Renegades in the banked section because I had one finished that could fit in that spot. Also, Anna's finished banked book "Magic Bleeds" has an I author, so it could fill Erica's spot for the second I in 5 down. We should probably start filling in as many spots as possible with completed books.

Erica has a finished one in banked books called "Easy Love" that could fill in the E in #3 down. If she switches that one and Andrea posts the review for "Ink, Iron, and Glass" then we'll be all done with this crossword!
