Charlotte, is there romance?
Do you remember the opening scene (location and time period) and who the heroine is at this point?
What time periods and locations do you recall?
How does she die? (Spoilers are okay - just give us a clear warning before revealing a spoiler.)

Hi everyone !Thank you for your comments, and sorry I just saw them..
I don't remember the opening scene unfortunately... nor the closing scene for that matter !!
Time periods : definitely at at some point we're in the middle ages, I vaguely remember the heroine being persecuted for being a witch (or wrongly accused of being one).
She is moving across time (either reincarnation or time travel or some other means) but also space: she's in different european countries throughout the novel : I think Italy, Germany and France, maybe others as well.
I don't think there's romance, or if there is, it's secondary. The whole book has a magical / mystery element to it as well.
I had a look at the three books you mentioned @Blue, and you're right, My Name Is Memory does have a very similar premise, but they were all published too late for me to have read as a kid !
How old is Lou (Lupus, Lupo, etc.?) when she's reincarnated or time travels to these different places? Is she always a teenager? Is she always female?
Do you recall other versions of her name (e.g., Louise, Louisa)? Wikipedia has a list of feminine variants: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_...

She’s definitely always female, and I think she’s a teenager most of the time. She may be a bit older at some point. “Lova” rings a bell !
Looks like we can eliminate A Time To Change by Callie Langridge.
Are there other characters who are reincarnated (or time travel) with her?

Close in terms of plot yes, but written too recently ! I don’t remember any other character, from what I remember the main character is kind of a loner.I’m going to swing by my hometown’s library as soon as it reopens to the public and see if they kept records of what I borrowed because it drives me crazy !
Charlotte, please post a new comment if you're still looking for this book - or if you found it.

I'm pretty sure the main character name was Lou, but then we would follow her being reincarnated through different time periods and her name would have slight variations, like at some point she is a teenage witch in Italy and her name becomes something like Lupus or Lupo. I vaguely remember it being a bit feminist - main characters were all women.
It's a pretty dark book and it gave me some anxiety. Maybe the main character, or one of her reincarnation dies at some point? Or else, is persecuted...
I think it was a novel, but now I think of it, it may also be a collection of short stories.
Sorry I don't remember much but would be grateful for any suggestion!
