I came to Wattpad to over seven years ago to read people’s stories for free. To read stories of really talented people who might one day become great writers... see Tijan Now some might say there is some bias on likability because the people at Wattpad are less criticle than the general population on say Amazon. That’s true.
But as a writer myself, I would not ever ask for anyone to pay to read anything I wrote (which is another pet peeve when authors here would withdrawl there story chapters from ending so that they could publish them). And maybe my stories aren’t that good either. That’s not why I’m there.
I use to think that there was two types of writers: Those who write for money - Stephanie Meyer. And those who write for the love of writing - J. R. Rowlins. But there is a third group, the one I’m in, that write to get the stories out of my head.
Wattpad catered to that need without the competition and scrutany. Now it’s progressing more to money schemes and over use of annoying ads. How much more will they go more towards a paying system than inspiring future writers?
