What are you reading in 2019?

I'm currently reading A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan, and I've just finally started Seven Types of Ambiguity by Elliot Perlman for book group.

About a quarter of the way through Imperial Twilight: The Opium War and the End of China's Last Golden Age so far. It is not too bad and quite readable for a history book

I listened to A Natural History of Dragons on audiobook at the end of last year. I hope you're enjoying it Toyah, not sure when I'll get round to it but I would like to continue the series at some point.

I am reading The Sober Diaries: How one woman stopped drinking and started living to spur me on through Dry January.

Really is quite a sobering read, the author was in all sorts of bother from her long term over drinking. I'm not in that category, but it's a really good reminder as to why cutting back/cutting it out is a good thing. She's pretty much the same age as me, similar family life and set up etc, so it feels very relevant.

Also now listening to Dear Mrs. Bird which is off to a good start.

I'm reading Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie for my February book club (and, usefully, an award-winner for the BV challenge). I had little idea what it was about before I started, but so far it's very good, and is one of those effortless reads that slips like gossamer through your mind.

I listened to it on audio book from the library. The narrator's voice was perfect for Lady Trent, just how you would imagine she would speak.

You've reminded me Paul, I must carry on with that series. I've still only read the first one but really enjoyed it. I've been meaning to read the next one but keep forgetting.

I'm reading Let Me Lie and listening to A Gentleman in Moscow

Needed a bit of light relief from my last couple of books, which both had disastrous politics at their heart, so reading Diary of a Provincial Lady, which is making me smile.

I read 'Let me Lie' a week or so ago and though it was a good thriller.

I temporarily put aside any other reading to finish Seven Types of Ambiguity which was my book group read. So in the last week I've finished that and today A Natural History of Dragons which I loved beyond words. Now on to Goodbye to Berlin for some more fun.

Started The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of the Cold War yesterday and it is shaping up to be really good so far

Just got “Doing Justice: A Prosecutor's Thoughts on Crime, Punishment, and the Rule of Law” by Preet Bharara today. Excited to get started on that.

Currently working through a big pile of books, but first up is Jack Of Jumps a disturbing book about a series of murdered prostitutes in London

Recently read Hag Seed, which I found was part of a series of modern day authors reimagining Shakespeare, called Hogarth Shakespeare. So have started s second book from the series called Shylock Is My Name

I'm currently on Passing Strange by Ellen Klages and The End of the World is Nigh by Tony Moyle. Both random unplanned reads which are pretty good!

I've just started My Sister the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite for April's book group read

I've just started A Keeper by Graham Norton. So far I'm enjoying it and am really intrigued to find out what happens.
