Jess | 3 comments I remember reading a book a very long time ago, when I was too young to fully understand it. It must’ve been anywhere from 2008-2012. The book was written in English, I found it in a library in Ohio. It seemed relatively new at the time, but designed to look old and discovered. I must imagine the author was a woman, but I don’t really recall. It was presumably YA or fantasy. Perhaps kids? Although some of the topics got very dark. It read like a journal that had been written by a couple (a man and a woman?) over the course of many years. I don’t remember if they had kids or not, but they might’ve at the end. It was a large, square, hardcover book, and there weren’t that many pages. It was almost like a scrapbook, a hodgepodge of notebook paper, messy writing, drawings, clipped on photos, and little mementos like flowers or other plants. I remember the cover being dark, maybe a dark purple? It was very mystical. It journaled fairies and fairy sightings in the real world, talking about all different types of fae and mystical creatures. I distinctly remember reading about one such creature that was similar to a dwarf or goblin and would take your firstborn child if you’ve didn’t do something to ward it off. At the back of the book was a pocket where one could put photos or cards or something similar, and on that back cover it said what was supposed to be inside the pocket that went along with the book. It was from the library, so naturally whatever it was had been stolen. The pages were colored to look old and faded and the writing was a mixture of print and readable cursive, usually in pen. It talked about good fairies, bad fairies, and everything in between. It charted the couple’s own sightings, and everything they had heard in their travels. I also remember reading about mushroom rings and making wishes. I wish I could find this book again, but I can’t for the life of me remember the name or the author, and my google searches are yielding no results. Please assist!

Jess | 3 comments It’s Fairyopolis! Thanks Rosa!

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5384 comments You’re welcome, Jess! There’s no couple, though—just one woman. Are you sure it’s the one?

Jess | 3 comments Yep! I google it and looked through some photos-I’m not quite sure why I remember it as being a couple. I often read multiple books at once, so I must be mixing it up with a different plot line. I definitely recognize the layout of the pages. It’s the one!
