Amby Sharp (ambisaurusrex) The power starts to fail at one of the human bases and they send a group of young adults/teens to inspect parts of their power grid and batteries. Each stop is about a day apart and they have to be inside the building by nightfall or the creatures attack. There was a scene where one of the main characters fell into one of the creatures nests or hideouts, in an abandoned mall and around a carousel, and was saved by one of the creatures, a little girl, by sitting on top of her so the creatures could not smell the main character. The story also told the background of how the little girl was turned into one of the creatures. The creatures were a failed government experiment to try and make superior fighters. One of the scientists was bit by one of the creatures (named something like babbadock, he would repeat it in the scientist’s mind) and the controlled scientist let him out of his cage. The author used the phrase “later, she/he would remember...” often during dramatic or fight scenes to spoil the outcome.

Amby Sharp (ambisaurusrex) That’s it, actually. I came across it trying to find the name earlier, but, brushed it aside because the basic synopsis didn’t sound right. A detailed breakdown of the plot definitely is it. Thank you.
