1x1 Kim and Shade RP (+Hush)

He lifted his gaze as he saw familiar young man walking towards the room. “One sack…“ He took a step towards him. “Hey, you’re back already?“ He lost track of time but he knew it could’ve been too long. Figured the kids would want to go home and rest before coming back at least.
It had probably been a little over an hour that Shade had been gone for considering he'd had to walk back and he'd probably spent about 40 minutes or so with Hush. "I felt bad for leaving her." Shade murmured, ducking his head a little. He could barely believe the man was still here. "I... I thought you were going to leave." Then he started as he realised how that sounded and he didn't mean it in that way at all. "I mean, thank you for staying." He still sounded so uncertain.

Shade hesitated. He hadn't been planning to stay the night because of Hush but... He didn't want to leave Kim alone either... Perhaps he should have left the phone with Hush but he'd been worried someone would ring looking for him. "I... I'll stay for a while, but... there is someone back at home I need to take care of as well, my little brother..." He finally admitted, finally trusting the man enough to tell him that because it certainly seemed he was kind and he wasn't going to hurt any of them let alone Hush.

Shade gave a nod. He'd try and stick around for as long as he could, maybe another half an hour wouldn't make Hush panic too much, even if he still felt a little bad about it. "I'll stay as long as I can." He stated. He then managed to smile ever so slightly at the man's statement but shook his head. "Not as lucky as I am to have her." He replied immediately. He then waved back as Adam waved farewell and watched as he left, smiling slightly at his interacting with his wife on the phone.

Kim had a bit more color in her cheeks now, which was a good sign, however she was still sedated and unconscious. A nurse coming in to check her vitals which were strong. It was the fever that concern them and the erratic brain activity. No it actually had improved over the last hour it had remained at a still concerning level. Thankfully the doctors and nurses were quite polite to him and offered him food and drink though the food was more on the hospital food side such as Jell-O and the drink was water or ice chips. And a popsicle.
Shade had barely eaten his dinner so no way did he want food now so he politely declined, but was pleasantly surprised at the kindness of the doctors and nurses and he thanked them for their offers. He entered Kim’s room and slowed as his eyes rested upon her, sagging once again. There were a few chairs in the room and he dragged one over so he could at the side of Kim’s bed, near her and facing her. He sighed as he looked at her face. He swallowed. “Well... at least it... kind of feels like I’m returning the favour. After how much you’ve helped me...” He murmured to Kim and let out a half hearted chuckle but it quickly faded when he looked to Kim’s unconscious form once again.

Kim showed no signs of reaction, the study be being of the heart monitor reassuring in many ways because if it was silent it would mean something much worse and if it was beeping to rapidly it would mean something very bad indeed.
Her chest Rosenfeld slowly and though she wasn’t quite as peaceful as when he might’ve seen her sleep before she did seem to be genuinely resting.
At least Kim didn’t look... lifeless. She only appeared to be resting. Shade took in a deep breath, then he slid out the book from where it had been tucked at his side, laying it out on his lap. He stared at it, remembering how Kim had said she wanted to learn more about Argentina, his home... He didn’t know how being reminded of home would make him feel while times were already troubled... but... He cleared his throat softly and opened it up. “Hey Kim? Remember? You said you wanted to know more about Argentina. That book you got me, I have it here, now. Here, we can look through it together.” Then he reached forward and placed the book on the bed so it would very slightly and very gently lean on Kim as he opened it up. He didn’t open it up right at the start and so the random pages he opened to turned out to be of the breathtaking Iguazu falls. Shade himself had never been but his father had said he had, and had told of how incredible it was. Shade swallowed and glanced at Kim, then made himself speak. “Oh look, this is Iguazu Falls. If you ask me, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, though I’ve only seen pictures. My father said he’s been there though. And he would always say that. That they were the most beautiful falls in the world I mean.”
He flipped through a few more pages slowly, until he ended up coming to a page on the Valley of the Moon and despite himself he smiled faintly. “And the Valley of the Moon... Or as we call it, the Valle de la Luna.” He said in a flawless and smooth sounding Spanish accent. “Now it may sound mystical, but it’s actually just a wasteland of dusty dirt and rock.” He said and sniffed lightly in amusement. “It’s dotted with a bunch of perfectly smooth and round boulders so it has that going for it. Nightmare to bring a circus troop through though.”
He snorted before turning to other pages. “I’m degrading it too much though t does have some pretty impressive rock formations.” He flipped through more pages before stopping as the book showed pictures seemingly of a festival. He read through the words, and I asked sharply as he realised it was the Cosquín folk festival... He let out a breath, glancing again to Kim. “Oh wow, the Cosquín folk festival. You know it goes for nine days. It’s full of song and dance and local food.” He sniffed lightly. “It was my first big festival... I was 8. And yet I still remember it so vividly. We were doing a big performance as part of it. Some of the most business we ever see. We attend most years. Nothing beats it.” He inhaled deeply once again as the memories and all the feelings and scents and imaginings of home all suddenly hit him like a truck. Good lord... He missed it. He missed home... He fell silent as he tried to swallow against a lump in his throat, not trusting himself to speak.

Shade glanced at Kim when he heard the noise but didn’t think much more of it. He let out a sigh of his own and slumped against his chair, suddenly feeling heavy. He’d barely been here thirty minutes and he was already crumbling apart. Some weakling he was... He started humming absently to himself, a common folk song, not knowing what else to do.
((I don’t really have anything else to say so... XD))

When he returned they wouldn’t let him back to see her until after 10 AM. Some sort of inspection and decontamination along with visiting hours made it take even longer to get in. So it probably would be around 11 AM if you tried to come first thing in the morning.
Kim would still be laying there looking no different than she had been the night before except for one thing, there was a large vase no the window full of various flowers. All of them blue and purple with a few pink and white dotted in. The card said it was from Adam. He obviously had ordered something yesterday and scheduled it to be delivered this morning. Ironic that that was able to get there before any visitors good.
((Gonna message an idea XD))
Shade reluctantly left just after the three hour mark, he felt bad leaving Kim but admittedly his worry for Hush was stronger. Besides he'd make sure to return better prepared tomorrow. He returned to the apartment and found Hush still awake, he hadn't exactly expected him to be able to sleep alone, so Hush went with him into Kim's bedroom to settle him into bed and get him to sleep, signing his little lullaby as always. But sleep eluded Shade and soon he slipped away from Hush's side and went out into the main room of the apartment, collapsing languidly onto the couch. He took out Kim's phone and went through it a little, trying not to do anything that would invade her privacy, but his curiosity overtook him and he ended up tapping on her messages. But then right at the top he noticed the name of a girl he didn't know, Lucy, and the beginning words of a particularly nasty message... Frowning, he tapped on it, and then looked through what turned out to be many nasty messages, full of swearing and in all caps. As he read it the subject became clear, Kim "stealing" the girl's shifts, and clearly, it was the girl who had organised Kim's beating. Shade clenched his jaw. That girl was a piece of work! It really ticked him off. He sighed and got out of the phone and put it down before he got more annoyed.
He read through a little more of the Argentina book despite how emotional it made him feel, though eventually he managed to fall into an uneasy sleep on the couch. Hush ended up waking him the next morning, being a light sleeper and waking earlier since Shade hadn't been with him. Shade woke with a start, then set to making Hush breakfast and a quick one for himself that he only ate half of. He then checked if Hush was okay with being left alone again and the younger boy seemed understanding because of Kim's situation, and since it was the daytime he was a little more at ease.
Shade rushed off and was at the hospital by 8, but was informed by a nurse that he wasn't allowed to visit until 10, and then she also warned him that it might be a little longer because of the decontamination process. So, sagging a little, Shade ended up heading back out. No way could he just stand around and wait... Then, an idea struck him. Shade headed back to the apartment, but took the form of a bird to avoid the trek. He pecked on the window and Hush let him in. "Getting the guitar." Shade said vaguely in way of explanation, grabbing the old guitar and ducking back out. He found a busy area in the street nearby crowded with people during the rush hour, and Shade quickly set himself up to busk. He didn't get as much as the other afternoon since people were likely in a rush and didn't have time to search for spare change, but it seemed it was his lucky day since there were a few generous souls. He kind of lost track of time, focused on earning a decent amount, then he packed up. It was a little annoying having to carry the guitar so he dropped it back to Hush at the apartment, then headed back for the hospital.
However along the way, he stopped to buy some flowers from a store. A beautiful mixture of pink lilies and white daisies. He then hurried back to the hospital, getting there about 12, where one of the nurses was happy to let him in, and there was a moment where Shade felt himself flushing a little when the nurse giggled and complimented the flowers. She left him be as he entered Kim's room and despite himself he was smiling a little, but then it faded as he caught sight of something right away. A vase of flowers already in a vase near the window, and let's just say there likely wasn't enough space, definitely not enough for another bunch, especially as big as his. He glanced at the flowers he held in his hand a little forlornly. His chair hadn't been moved from last night and he sat on it uncertainly, still holding the flowers. His stomach gave a growl and Shade sighed, staring at Kim for a moment to check that she was okay and also that there was no change, then eventually setting the flowers gently on Kim's bed and he made himself go and get some lunch. He just got himself a light sandwich, then returned to the room and ate it half-heartedly while sitting on the chair.
Then as he finished, his eyes settled on the bunch of flowers wrapped up in cellophane laying on the bed. One of the petals of the lilies had broken off since they were so delicate, and was lying on the bed. Shade frowned slightly and tilted his head, then glanced back to Kim's limp figure lying there. All the plain white sheets of the hospital bed were a little... dull... Made her look a little... washed out. He glanced back at the flowers. He didn't know how the idea came to him, but for some reason he just acted on the thought. Shade got up and took up the flowers, then proceeded to very gently price the flowers off of their stems, and started laying them out upon the bed. With his careful touch, most of the flowers came away perfectly. Shade spread them out across the sheet, his work slow and precise, even placed a couple near Kim's head on her pillow. Soon the bed was covered with the flowers, their soft colours sprinkled over the pristine white. Shade was still gently placing the remaining flowers along the end of the bed.
And as he did, Shade started to hum to himself. And then well, it wasn't long before he started singing. The song that was almost always in his head.
Darkness, of white you can
Through the sadness take your flight
And become the wings that pierce the veil
Spreading strong and true tonight...
Shade then glanced at Kim, and the other words of the song came to him, the ones he didn't sing as much. But he sung them now, as if to give Kim strength, as if she were fighting some great battle, facing some great trial. And as if trying to tell her she would come out of it, stronger than ever. As if she were someone with a great destiny...
Brought into the light at last
By the cold, exposing sun
I was granted freedom tame
To become the chosen one
Through the mirror
Night reflected
Miraculous to see
My soul threw away the mask that hides the deeper me
Breaking the wounded light
We reveal the other side
Where despair embrace
They share a face
Which will light both you and I
Disappearing fake light
Be reborn a true light
Within these eyes
Breaking the dark of night
Piercing through the painted white
Cut it all away from yesterday
Till a new era's in sight
Unlock the heart within
Let it spread its wings and soar
Rising up in flight
Through the night of white
And fly on forever more
((Idk the flower idea just came to me like this second and I went with it XD Hope this is alright even though it might not be what you had in mind XD))

She knew she wanted to be closer to it. The smell stimulated her mind, emotions started to swirl. Her eyelids were so heavy, everything weighed a ton. Yet her heart surged, breathing became easier, and though she was groggy, slowly she blinked open her eyes. Right at the words Fly On forever more... The words captured passions and desires, Dreams and beauty. “That’s beautiful.” The mask muffled her words slightly. Her mind was still sluggish. As was normal after such an injury. She couldn’t even process where she was yet, but the soft smile was still there.
((Oh my goodness! I adore it! Reminds me of snow white , when they put her in a glass box and surround her with flowers, thinking she’s dead, but just sleeping from the poisoned apple. Also that song! So lovely! Where did you get it! ^_^ ))
Shade was focused on his work with the flowers, so he did not see Kim open her eyes. But of course, did hear her when he speak and he jolted and whipped around to her, eyes wide. Her eyes were open. She was awake! “Kim!” He approached her side, still gawking, and then heaved a huge sigh of relief. Did this mean she was going to be okay? He swallowed as he gazed at her. “How... how are you feeling?”

((Oh sorry the song! XD Lol first time I heard it was actually on an animation the warrior cats books I used to read so much as a little kid it’s the song they used for the intro I think its for some kind of Japanese anime.))
Shade smiled faintly and ended up kneeling down beside her bed to be level with her since he didn’t want to disturb the flowers. “Tired only? That doesn’t seem too bad at least.” He offered, smiling slightly. “Well you were getting worse and worse and I got really worried so... I know you said not to but I brought you to the hospital. I had to.” He raised his brows at her pointedly. “It was serious Kim.” As she then noticed the flowers though his expression softened and he shrugged and his eyes darted. “Uh, yeah...”

((Goodness me it’s actually so hard to find it so I just sent you the damn animation XD it’s not the whole song but it’s most of it XD

Shade was hoping she wouldn’t be mad, and well hadn’t exactly expected her to be since Kim didn’t seem to be that kind of person, and he smiled as she thanked him. “No need. Thank your boss, Adam, he helped it all to happen.” He told her, not one to take all the credit especially where it wasn’t due. As she moved her hand to touch his he looked a little surprised but just kept that faint smile on his face. He glanced about. “I wonder if I have to tell them you’re awake, but I don’t know if they’ll approve of the flowers...” he gave the slightest crooked smirk.

((thank you I listen to it it’s beautiful!))
Shade gave a nod in response to her. He didn’t exactly feel uncomfortable at her state but he did feel a little awkward mainly just because of the long silence. But then what she did next made him laugh quite heartily. She looked like such an innocent child in this context. Well, she seemed to be feeling better if she was able to be playful and that reassured him a lot. “Maybe if you ask nicely they’ll let you keep the flowers.” He said, grinning before it settled into a gentler smile. “I’m glad you like them.” He decided it would be wise not to tell her how much they had cost. His creator doesn’t know if it’s the same for Kim’s creator where she lives but here flowers are quite expensive!
((Hehe! ^_^))
((Hehe! ^_^))

Indeed, flowers always seem to be very expensive, especially nice ones. If you’ll settle for any flowers you can usually find cheap ones at a grocery store but truly beautiful bouquets could be insanely expensive and she would’ve felt very bad to learn he had spent so much money on her for something that would perish so soon. However the moment she just appreciated it!
It wasn’t long later where her nurse stepped in and then the whole room was set a buzz as doctors and nurses were hurrying in and out no one made him move so more than likely he would probably end up doing so because if they were trying to get access to her checking vitals and making sure everything looked well. They made comments of needing to run numerous tests but everyone seemed positive and eager.
Shade’s brows rose skyward at those words from Kim and he straightened slightly, feeling another flush of heat through his face. “Oh Uh, Thank you.” Then he ended up smiling at her accent, and how... relaxed she seemed. Not worried and not scared.
Shade would have been about to go tell the doctors since he felt he probably should have but then the nurse came in anyway and the hustle and bustle began. Shade stood up and moved out of the way of the doctors, dragging his chair back closer to the wall and watching as they rushed around, hands clasped together in his lap. They didn’t seem to be... too annoyed about the flowers...

Shade was a little saddened to have to leave the room but he obeyed. He sat dejected and bored as the hours dragged past while they carried out their tests on Kim. But it was all worth it when he saw her come back looking happy and upbeat. He straightened and smiled as she passed but likely the doctors were still busy and he hung back, inpatient to get in and talk to her.

Shade was happy to be able to come back in, and he became even more so when he saw Kim sitting up and eating. And she even greeted him. So despite himself a grin spread across his face. “Hey! Feeling better?” She certainly seemed to be. He dragged his chair over to its usual spot right near her and nodded easily at her questions. “Of course I’m alright, it’s you I’ve been worried about.” His mouth quirked and then he softened as she asked about Hush, it meant a lot to him. “Hush is fine. He doesn’t mind being left alone in the day though last night was a little hard. Sorry, I didn’t stay for too long...”

Shade just smiled gently. “Hey you know me, stubborn as a bull, I would have gotten the help you needed anyway, regardless of what you said.” He then nodded solemnly. “We owe Adam a lot. I need to find a way to repay him.” He stated firmly. His mind was made up, he wasn’t one to just take charity, he would repay Adam for his good deeds somehow.

Shade smiled crookedly. “Fine but hopefully I can argue back that it would be distressing for me to live with the fact that he gave me something for nothing I have to repay him.” He said and sniffed in amusement. He tilted his head as she told him that she’d signed some paperwork allowing him to be able to hear everything and he gave a nod. “Sure I don’t mind at all.” He then gave a smirk. “I’ll be able to hear everything to make sure you don’t lie to me about anything that you have to be careful and I can make sure you stick to anything they tell you while you still need to recover.” He said and lifted his chin.

Shade only looked down at her and smirk. “You can’t skip nothing by me, you remember that mi amiga.” He grinned, using the Spanish words for saying ‘my friend’. He then smiled in a gentler manner. “You are feeling better though at least a bit?” He asked softly.

She grinned from ear to ear. “I am, I still feel a little… Funny. But the doctor said that was normal, but because I got here so quickly and they were able to help bring my body temperature down and get me medicine but I have me under supervision that it worked very good, he was also really surprised about a lot of my test results and said if I did good on the others I might be able to go home tomorrow.”
Shade ended up grinning hugely as she responded with Spanish in turn. For some reason that just really made him feel happy. “I’m glad you’re feeling better, but yeah of course. You still need to recover.” He said and then gave her a bit of a pointed look but it quickly softened and gave way to a chuckle. “So you’ll still have to stay tonight then? Did you want me to get you anything for the stay?” After all she would be conscious now so she might start getting bored staying here at the hospital as everyone did.

Unbeknownst to Kim Shade was planning to stay much longer tonight and since her expression likely changed he would quickly say so. "Hey don't worry," he told her, leaning forward. "I'll bring Hush tonight and we'll stay as long as we can they'll have to drag us out of here kicking and squirming." He grinned, hoping to cheer her up a little. As she asked about borrowing the Argentina book he was at first just a little surprised but figured she simply remembered getting it and gifting it to him. "Sure, I'll bring it." He said with a light smile. But then he went stock still and stared at her. "You... you heard... Last night?"

When he seemed thrown for a loo she chuckled. “ can I quote back everything you said, no… But I vaguely recall you talking mentioning places, the son of your voice was very soothing...” oh my, why had she said that!? Now all tbe blood was rushing to her face. “Though I do remember the Valley of the Moon even if it isn’t as magical as it sounds I kind of want to see it.“ She chuckled nervously.
Shade just grinned for he fully meant that. It was something he would do for any friend, or someone closer. He straightened as she said that she could at least vaguely recall his words from last night and of course he wouldn’t have expected her to be able to quote word for word anyway but when she mentioned the Valley of the Moon he was beaming. She really had been at least able to hear and register his words even though she had been unconscious it just seemed amazing! “Wow...” he then chuckled. “Such a nice name but really it’s not that much to see.” He said, smirking crookedly.

Shade smiled lightly, loving when she talked about her writing. “I suppose you have a point there.” He tilted his head and grinned. “Maybe in a story it can be more than meets the eye. A place of some mystical secret. Worthy of its beautiful name.” He then chuckled, wondering where that had come from almost. “I’m good I had a sandwich not too long ago.” He said with a nod.

((i’m off to bed, good night <3 thank you for helping me get my blood off of everything (; LOL))
Shade just grinned as she said she loved it. He didn’t say it but he was glad to help. Then as she asked about the meeting Shade stilled. Good lord it felt so long ago now after all that had happened with Kim. But he managed to smirk faintly. “Actually, really good. Better than I even expected. He was very nice about it.” He wrung his hands a little and then met Kim’s gaze. “I can’t thank you enough for finding him, with how much he will help. Thank you Kim.
((Um.... blood? Kim I’m worried XD))
((And ahh sorry!!!))
((Um.... blood? Kim I’m worried XD))
((And ahh sorry!!!))

((Blood? Not sure I see what you did?
And LOL it’s fine!))
"Sorry to leave you alone Hush." Shade murmured to him as he came up to him and rested a hand on the younger boy's shoulder. "Kim is in the hospital."
Hush indeed looked quite worried at that. He tilted his head a little and for Shade the question was clear. "I think she will be okay. But I'm going to go back to the hospital after we have dinner. If you're alright with that." Hush looked to him and immediately nodded. It made Shade smile faintly. "You sure you're going to be alright on your own?" Hush gave him a look but then his expression softened and he nodded. Shade had to remember Hush wasn't a little kid, and just because he didn't speak didn't mean he didn't think. Though the thought of someone coming in and discovering Hush scared him to death, but Hush was cluey. Still Shade pursed his lips. "Do you perhaps want to come to the hospital with me?
Hush hesitated. And Shade knew it was a lot to ask of him but he was still just really worried about leaving him alone for so long... But, he knew Hush probably wouldn't want to come, all the people, it would be too overwhelming for him. "It's alright you don't have to." Shade told him and Hush gave him a grateful look, he didn't nod or shake his head but his choice was fairly clear, and Shade didn't mind. He felt bad, but he made the promise that he'd return within 3 hours. He made Hush his dinner and a small something for himself though didn't end up eating much. He made sure Hush was finished and then gave him a last small briefing until Hush started making a shooing gesture for him to leave, his unspoken message clear. Take care of Kim, kind Kim who had done so much for them. On his way out though, Shade paused as he noticed the Argentina book on the table, the one Kim had gotten for him to remind him of home, and which she said she wanted to learn more about too. He didn't know what compelled him to do it, but he picked up the book and brought it with him as he finally left, tucking it under his arm and holding it close to his side. He didn't take a cab back to the hospital but walked. The night and the fact that they were less people around the streets made him feel calmer, plus he was confident in his ability to defend himself with his shape shifter ability if danger reared its ugly head. Though he did start at every little noise, but otherwise the journey was thankfully uneventful. As if the pair of Kim and Shade hadn't had enough to deal with after all... Finally he made it back to the hospital.
