Bobby (bobbyb-aka-plarry) | 37 comments I really liked all the Laurie R. King's Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes' series up to The Pirate King, which I thought wholly missed the mark. It was so unsatisfying that when I started the next one, Garment of Shadows, and they were still in Morocco, I DNF'd it early on, after chapter 1 or 2, because I couldn't get into it. Honestly, I thought Ms. King had grown bored with the series and would wrap it up. But now it's been several years and I've noticed that she's continued to write them, releasing Island of the Mad a few months ago.

Thus, my question is, should I give Garment of Shadows a re-try, or, if not, where do people think I should resume the series? I've looked at the reviews of the books and there doesn't seem to be a clear indication there. Thoughts are appreciated!

SamSpayedPI | 2308 comments I can't tell you; I dropped the series for the same reason after Garment of Shadows (although I did finish that one).

This might be a better topic for the "Just to Chat" folder, however, not "Suggest books for Me".

Sue Elleker | 1055 comments I prefer Garment of Shadows; I agree Pirate King was a bit of a let-down.
