Hello, I’m really new to Goodreads and to this group. Is there a way to comment on individual links?
Becky wrote: "Hello, I’m really new to Goodreads and to this group. Is there a way to comment on individual links?"Sure there is. You probably can't respond specifically if you're using the GR app, but if you use the desktop version of the site every post should have a green link at the lower R that says REPLY. Click on that and it will quote that post so people know what you are responding to. You can modify the post by cutting and pasting exactly which part of the post you are responding to so it makes more sense. (Only the first couple of lines of the post you are responding to will show up otherwise.)
On the app you SHOULD be able to bring up the desktop version by scrolling down the R side of the page until you see a link that says DESKTOP VERSION. I cannot recommend this too strongly. On the app you not only can't respond to other people's posts, you can't even see or add to group bookshelves, or snitch books from the shelves of your friends, which to me is the whole point of hanging out on this site.

Ok, Thank you for the suggestion! I logged on from my browser and everything looks totally different! I’ll need to spend some more time on here to figure all this out. I appreciate the help!

Well I'm glad your life is "no sweat" lol
Not precisely a crime article but it opens a large can of worms. I myself have never seen the "thin blue line" flag used to represent anything BUT extremist views and I'm wondering what other people's experiences are. The metaphor itself, to me, gives a picture of the world (and this is just me -- your mileage may vary) of all the nice people owering behind that line of police officers, keeping the nasty ones out. Not sure what it meant to whoever came up with it or what it might mean to the general public other than wingnuts...https://www.foxla.com/news/lapd-remov...

I'm not surprised at how immature and prurient this group is. The name they've chosen to be known by says a lot: "Proud BOYS". I mean, come on...
We also know their hero, the orange turd, has not yet made it out of middle school.

You are being awfully generous here.

My late father ran a car dealership here in Westchester County and one of his customers was Wayne Barrett. I met his wife and spoke with him on the phone. She gave me an autographed copy of his book, "Guiliani." I regularly read his pieces in the Village Voice. I miss both him and Jimmy Breslin, two NY icons.
