One of the most recognized days in February is Valentine's Day, so we're going to show love to books that others have rejected. The shelf of the month is:
Abandoned
Find a book that someone else tossed aside and give it a chance!

It's not a genre, hope that's okay, I figured since anthology and favorites has been done in the past, it will work. If not, I'll pick another shelf :)

Ack! It just took me seconds to see that some of my 4 star reads are on that page of rejects! And some of my 1 and 2 star also... This shelf really has variety.

what a great choice, Vivian. I have to say, there are a couple of books on the first page that I myself have abandoned. If I was really going to do this I would probably read one of those. But....

How fun, Vivian!! I like it. And I don't think it's a problem that it's not a genre at all. The group is Pick-a-Shelf, after all. :) That doesn't mean we have to limit ourselves to just genre shelves - which is nice!!

I am amazed by the books on this shelf! The very first one The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo I gave 5 stars! But then A Visit from the Goon Squad is also on the first page and I gave it 2 stars. Go figure.

A lot of the books on this shelf are on my TBR list - a few slated to be read for another group by 2/29/12.
Now to pick which ones I will actually get to in that short month!

yeah, i have quite a few that are group reads, or that fit other challenges, so i'm looking forward to it

I looked at the first 3 pages of "Abandoned" and found I have 7 books already sitting on my bookshelf at home that are possible reads for this. Love finding a reason for pulling them out of the piles and finally getting them read!

There are at least a dozen books, just from the first 2 pages of the 'abandoned' shelf, that are currently on my tbr list... but just as a clarification, are we to read books from the list that we have personally previously abandoned? cuz I see there are also a few on the list that I too have given up on.

Just like any other shelf, we choose any book from the shelf. So it can be one you abandoned if you want, but it doesn't have to be.

The first page has 3 or 4 books I've started and abandoned (including Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). I probably won't try any of my previously abandoned ones, but who knows. I've also got books rated 1-5 stars on the first two pages, so it should be fun finding books to read :D

I've read tons of books from there, a few of them 5-star reads for me. :) I checked the first 3 pages and I found only one from my dnf shelf (which is how I call it): The Shack.

Thanks for this honor. I must admit that I thought this was going to be hard, as it looked like all the good shelves were chosen; but, was I surprised! I found several that were interesting to me that have not been previously chosen.

After much review and thought, I chose classics.

I am sure everyone can find a favorite book to re-read or one that was missed during schooling or just a book you have always wanted to read on this shelf of 304 pages!
