I wanted to list an Edward Gibbon quote...“the vicissitudes of fortune, which spares neither man nor the proudest of his works . . . buries empires and cities in a common grave.”
The trouble is it keeps automatically being attributed to Philip Meyer instead, who used it in his book "The Son". It is however a quote by Gibbon (who wrote "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire".

First one has typo plus second one is better anyway.
Also this quote has nothing to do with socialism or communism...(tags on the second one). Really the only tags needed (if any) are F.D. and slavery.

I've fixed a typo but the syntax is another matter. The quote might be ungrammatical and still be correct. Without access to the source we must assume the author added his own quote correctly.
The author has one book on Amazon which shows that he has a distinctive writing style but he does meet the notability requirements for having a quotation on Goodreads.

If there was a way it would, in my opinion, be wrong to do it in this case since the Fleming book is only reprinting the Jefferson quote and nothing more.
