Abcdarian | 26579 comments If that author did not write the book, we can move it to a different author profile. If the book was never written/published at all, the author could contact Support and ask to have it removed. If the book is just no longer available, that information can be added to the description but the book stays on Goodreads as readers may have shelved it.

There may be other situations, but I think that covers the main ones. :-)

Scott | 9040 comments The point is that GR exists for readers to track their reading. It's not about you.

No, they don't. They may remove books from their shelves when the books are no longer serviceable, or put them in storage when the books aren't being actively circulated. As for myself, I have books that are no longer published. I bought them used. (And I note they are *my* books and not the property of the author, many of whom are no longer living.)

The only thing that is yours on Goodreads is your author profile.

Same as anywhere else, as soon as a book is published it is out of the author's hands.

The great thing about libraries is that they do not only have current books that are still for sale, but stock many older titles as well.

Dee (austhokie) | 897 comments Goodreads stated purpose to be the largest online book cataloging service...therefore if your book has been previously published and ppl own copies then it is appropriate to leave it listed - and yes a library may have your book in its collection regardless of it being still available for sale or not - are you going to demand they get rid of their copies?

Elizabeth (Alaska) You might find some answers and help in the Author Feedback Group.
