“A Crew That Time Forgot: Rubislaw to Ruhleben” by Margie Mellis and Doreen Black tells how the crew of the Rubislaw based in Aberdeen arrived in Hamburg just as WWI broke out. They were stuck in Germany and ended up in the civilian prisoner of war camp at Ruhleben near Berlin.
I read (okay, read with much skimming) Confessions of a Mask, which is set in Japan. And you could probably argue that the protagonist is emotionally stranded for most if not all of his life.
I read Vonnegut's -Cat's Cradle- for my bookclub. Enough of it takes places on an island that I'm counting it.(I could count -The Martian-, which I've used for two other topics.)
Oh, my! I think I may have to read that one just because that title is so... extra! Seriously, I just read Tender Wings of Desire, possibly the worst historical romance fast-food marketing tie-in ever. Hopefully the only one ever.
