Laura, is the violinist a young female exchange student?
Can you tell us more about the main character - high school/college student/job, skills/interests, family/friends, etc.? Is this a romance or coming-of-age novel?
Location - country, region, big city/small town?

Setting could have been anywhere, generic US city/town - my guess would be midwest, but that's solely based on the snowstorm memory, not anything I remember specifically.
What I've got here is what I remember.

Do you remember the cover?"
No, though seeing it might ring a bell. The one cover that pops to mind is one that I know (Say Goodnight, Gracie), probably because I read that around the same time.

What I do remember is a scene (or series of scenes) where for some reason the MC has to meet a violin player (foreign born, I think. My brain wants to say that she defected from the Soviet Union, but I could be making that up) at the bus station. I think it was snowing heavily and they had to walk (I don't remember if the MC could drive or not). Violin player stops on a bridge and plays in the snow(I think. I know she plays, I don't know if I'm making up the bridge part - she might have played in the bus station)
Also, the violin player is pregnant- this is a surprise to MC and her family, and at some point there's a conversation about how the violin player's teacher thinks this will make her playing sound different.
