I'll be reading The Mountains of Mourning by Bujold in the next month or so. It is part of the Young Miles omnibus. Of course when I go to the libary I find out they lost the book. Fortunately they still had the Warrior's Apprentice for the group read, and they are buying a new copy of The Vor Game (or whatever was the second book in the Young Miles collection), but I was missing the short story. Then I remembered I picked up a whole bunch of old Analog magazines when a used bookstore was going out of business and was selling them cheap by the box. I was lucky and I have the issue that had the original printing of the story!
I've read Vampire Tapestry (in fact I nominated it I believe, it wasn't picked), it was pretty good. And Blood Price, particularly fun since it takes place in Canada. These two books couldn't be more different though.
And everyone should read the Dark is Rising (but never ever watch the movie...that was so horrible both people that did read the book and people that didn't hated it...) Wrinkle in Time is also a must read...even if as adults we're kind of bewildered as to what made it so good when we first read it :)
Read the Fifth Season of course, just started Obelisk Gate today...
Read the Dispossessed, didn't quite see what made it that great, would recommend Earthsea if there's only one Le Guin on the list. The Handmaid's Tale was better if one is going for dystopia/uptopia/society critique.
Tea with Black Dragon was really good too. And like the pair of vampire books, it's completely different from the other dragon book, Temeraire. Its again the obscure classic paired with the more modern fantasy.
I loved The Crystal Cave, somehow never got around to reading the rest of the series, I'll need to fix that some day.
I've also read Frankenstein.
And I've watched the Full Metal Alchemist anime if that counts instead of reading the manga? :)
And that's it. In fact I didn't recognize at least half, if not more, of the books on that list. And I need to stop looking at these lists because my to-read shelf is going to explode!
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou !? (Yokohama Shopping Trip Journal) Laid-back post-apocalyptic Iyashi Kei. I didn't know it'd been published in English. YKK seems an unlikely selection....
