I just finished Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. It was a quick read and is told in verse. It was quite thought provoking.

It's been on my TBR for a while now :) Thank you for the recommendation.
I’m currently reading Poet X and I think it would qualify here. I think it’s pretty amazing so far and I’ll likely finish it today.
I read The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick and I LOVED IT!!! I seriously think everyone should read it. And read it aloud to children. Such a beautiful story with the added bonus of amazing b&w illustrations. I still hope to read House of Leaves, which was my plan, but this came to my attention and was available at the library.

A few recommendations to get you started:
The Invention of Hugo Cabret - Brian Selznick (children)
House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski (adults)
S - J.J. Abrams (adults)
Illuminae - Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (teens/adults)
