I am perpetually of the random faction. Usually I have several books going at once, so reading in order is not really feasible. Also I read according to what I feel like.

While I love "scheduling" my book club reads, etc., I would never attempt to read these books in order for the ATY challenge! I love the opportunity to randomly select a book and begin reading as I can fit the time into my schedule!

For those who don't want to commit to reading ALL 500 page books, but want a nudge to not just read the shortest book possible, you could join the "Read as many pages as you can challenge" This challenge sets goal levels every 5000 page as tree names. My 2019 goal is Apple Tree (45,000 pages). Those of you reading 500 page books for the ATY challenge could perhaps aspire to the Buckeye (100,000) or the Sweet Gum (150,000) or something even higher.
Taking part in this challenge made me a lot more enthusiastic about those great books that happen to be long.
I joined that one last year! I decided then to aim for pages instead of books, and aimed for 30k - I ended up almost hitting 45k! I’m hoping for the same this year. I’ve dropped from four challenges down to one (just AtY) as I found I was still trying to finish a whole bunch of books for different prompts.
I am absolutely Team Random!I like the challenges to find new books and meet new readers but I also need my freedom. And reading in order just feels so restrictive. I also am a big mood reader and rely on the library so practically it doesn't make sense either.
