Very different from the movie, but if you like the movie, I think you'll enjoy this even more. Less "dream-like" than the move, for lack of a better term.
I personally really enjoyed the whole series.

The trilogy as a whole is OK (I need to emphasize that I'm very stingy with ratings). That first part was my least favorite so at least in my opinion, it gets better. In a sense my biggest issue was it being a trilogy instead of one longer book (Annihilation is basically an extended intro, nothing more).

Loved that book as much as I loved the movie even though they kinda feel like two different people were given a story line and then did their own takes on it. Unlike the above poster, while I enjoyed the whole series, Annihilation was by far my fave of the three.

I haven't read that one yet but I absolutely love his Ambergris novels.

your so right, the movie and the book are just totally different! I definitely enjoyed the book a lot more! Really want to read on, but after reading some of the reviews a common remark is that it just doesn't push on from the first and that it's way too long. But I loved the writing style so much I will definitely be giving it a go in the near future!

I'd recommend that you definitely continue with the next two books at some point. My favorite was the third, but I thought the first two were pretty great, as well.

I'm very pleased to see Michael McDowell getting some love here.
I'm starting The Nightmare Room. It was on my docket for this month and then it was chosen for one of the group reads. How fortuitous!

SQUEEEEE"
I finished it last night. It was good. Now I want to read some more by McDowell.

journal of psychopath... definitely say I have gone back to horror! Also the author was the female cenobite in the second Hellraiser movie which I didn't know, so i'm hoping it should be nice and dark and gory haha!

The Best of John W. Campbell - I've only ever read "Who Goes There?" before, so interested to see what Campbell's other works are like.

That is a good one.

her writing was brutal! But it was brilliant all the same, definitely going to be checking out some of her other work so if you have any recommendations on what to check out next by her i'm all ears :) haha

I'm about 30/40% through and while it's beautifully written and quirky I feel its trying to mask the fact that nothing is actually happening. I'm not even sure what genre to put this in yet haha! I'll stick with it though in the hope of something happening soon!

muchly appreciated!! have added it to my list and will be looking for a kindle version when I get home from work! Haven't read a collection in a while so will make a nice change! Can't wait to pick it up :)

I am so excited to read this book, I couldn't pass it up when I saw that F Paul Wilson was one of the authors. 27 pages in, and it already promises to be one of the best horror (or at least vampire) novels I've ever read.

Those are two greats, right there.

Haha! DRACULAS was a ton of fun!

Bit of horror and comedy judging from the reviews, but I usually like Strand so looking forward to this one!
