I'm about half way through and it's really a mix of rationalized supernatural doings and true ghost/supernatural stories. As always with Christie, the tales are entertaining and slight, potato chip fiction that makes you feel vaguely guilty for taking in all the empty calories even as you flip to another one while grinning at the shenanigans."

Nice! I just picked this up at Barnes and Nobles (when was the last time I bought something *there* that's suitable for Horror Aficionados?!?) Really looking forward to it.

I'm skipping stories because I already read them as Kindle singles.
IMO this is tons better than 20th. That's the only writings of Hill that I just don't care for. His early short fiction was kinda blah to me. Once he did Locke & Key and Heart-Shaped Box I think his writing really took off.

This is good to hear as I didn't really enjoy 20th so haven't picked up any of his work since! Maybe I'll give him another go!

Dominik | 6 comments Started reading Fantastic Tales of Terror by Eugene Johnson and Books of Blood Volumes 1-3 (Books of Blood #1-3) by Clive Barker this week.

Haven't made it far into Fantastic Tales of Terror but the core concept behind the anthology intrigues me. Seems like it'll be a fun one.

As for Books of Blood: Volumes 1-3... third attempt at reading it. The previous attempts didn't fall short due to it being bad or boring, just life came knocking at my door at a difficult time, twice. Made it to around the half-way point last time. Remember that I really liked it, so here's hoping it's as good as I remember it as I make my way into the unexplored regions of its pages.

Miss Malfoy🐍 | 120 comments Fallen by Lauren Kate

I’ve read this twice before, and just got Unforgiven from Barnes and Noble a few days ago. I need to reread the whole series to read Unforgiven.

Matthew Bielawa | -51 comments My current read Apart in the Dark: Novellas contains 2 novellas. I just finished the first "The Pretty Ones". Wow! Ania Ahlborn does just a great job with the narrator Nell, who I absolutely love (and love to hate).

The Winter Tree by Mark Morris
Mark Morris' first novel, though it was only published for the first time recently. As he admits in the "foreward" there are gaps in logic and discrepancies in the story line. However, the writing itself is surprisingly good - even at 21 Morris had a knack for the English language, and the story does flow despite the holes in it.

Dark Tides A Charity Horror Anthology by Stephen King
I'm glad to have a copy of this fund-raiser, chock full of some big names as well as up-and-comers, especially as a resident of Virginia Beach. I'll plug the book to those who aren't familiar with it or were debating on getting it - do yourself and many others a favor and buy it.

I enjoyed the first story. It's nothing brilliantly original (in fact there are clear notes of The Dead Zone here), but it was an entertaining read. I'll get to the others as I have time.

ooo they sold out. It was a limited run due to permissions they got from some of the authors. If you go to their FB page and click the "Shop Now" button it looks like you can buy it from the page it goes to: https://www.facebook.com/VBDarkTides/

omg! I'm only about 12% through but the things the animals are "saying". LOL The author really knows animals.
The cat really cracks me up: "I will miss how they worship me." "I am incredible". Now THAT is a cat!

YAY!!!! I love when the cat goes:

or something similar. I was laughing my ass off while reading it.
