Are Emma and Julien the second-rate version of Clace

Emma is reckless and has no regard for her life and has a death wish almost completely identical to Jace's personality. Jules loves to draw and everyone thinks he isn't as tough as he is and he hates this significant other's death wish, THE SAME AS CLARY. Both have a forbidden romance which they still pursue regardless of other people's opinion. Or is that jut me?

Not just you, even Zara mentioned how alike they are (called them all perverted) in qoaad. I liked The Dark Artifices more than The Mortal Instruments, but would have to agree that Emma and Julian are the inferior version of clace.

I don't think so. Jace and Clary were kind of love at first sight kind of love and while they did struggle and fight for their love it's not like the love Emma and Julian have. Emma and Julian grew up together, they were friends for a long time and fell in love over time. Both romances were forbidden in difference ways because Jace/Clary believed they were related and Emma/Julian were paratari (think I spelled that right).

So no, I don't think Emma/Julian are second-rate version of Clary/Jace. They have similar personalities and similar situations but they are completely different.

So true! In City of Heavenly Fire, Clary even tells Jace that Emma reminds her of him.

I'm not a fan of the latest trilogy. I loved TMI as well as TID but these characters are just lacking IMO
