I read the first couple of chapters in the Syria book, which were very funny, kinda reminded me of Waugh or Greene. A strange side note in the introduction further explains that Moss' laptop was taken at the time of the murder. Recovered later, but no signs of the final editing that he had been working on at all, so the published book is the finished rough draft, so to speak, which was in the publisher's possession. When these Kindle offers come up, I have to both plan the initial spending, as well as a plan for exactly what I'm going to spend the ensuing a credit towards.
The computer/editing angle makes the mystery even more intriguing, doesn't it? Thanks for the additional info.
Just to finish out my Kindle offer spending, just now I used the $5 credit towards a book raved about by a friend: Two Owls At Eton, as well as partial payment towards an Inspector Singh mystery series book by Shamini Flint; they each take place in a different country, where some interest me more than others.
John, i went to the link you provided and was amused to see that the series has the words, "Inspector Singh Investigates". As you may have noted, something similar was the title of one of my books read last month, Inspector Imanishi Investigates, written in the 1960s. Delightful.
Thanks to Dem’s review i signed up for The Giver of Stars, a book about the Depression era horseback library in Kentucky. This is my second Jojo Moyes novel & i like her writing, particularly because i am immediately involved upon starting.

I wasn't familiar with Robert Tewdwr Moss murder, so had to look it up. He sounds as though he was the last of his breed, so to speak. RIP.
