Numbers Selected
My number 18 is That Hair by Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida. I am a little behind but still optimistic that I will catch up eventually :))
I will be reading Naguib Mahfouz's The Quarter. I am curious how I will get along as I dnf-ed his Karnak Café ....
I'm still plugging away through May, so assuming I ever get through June, I'll be reading No Fist Is Big Enough to Hide the Sky: The Liberation of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, 1963-74 for July!
That would be An African in Greenland which I read last month for the group read. So at least I can try and get to my July read of Soweto, Under the Apricot Tree which I haven't started yet.
I'll be reading The Map of Love by Ahdaf Soueif. Looking forward!
For the moment, I am finishing my July read of Mandela's Way: Lessons on Life, Love, and Courage.

I'm jealous, Map of Love is one of my all time favourites. Enjoy it!
I finally finished The Joys of Motherhood by Buchi Emecheta - the receipt from the university library reveals that I took it out in feb 2019(!) so it was about time. Excellent book, even if the content pisses me off royally... More here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My 11 is The Shining Girls. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I didn't like the last book I read by this author.
For September, I will add Agõtĩme: Her Legend (Benin) from my big to-be-read pile to the littler stack that has my unread books for this project!
My number 11 is Mr. Fix It by Richard Ali A Mutu. I already read and reviewed it a couple of months ago, but I am still 5 months behind🙈...
My number 16 is Of Water and the Spirit: Ritual, Magic, and Initiation in the Life of an African Shaman by Burkinese author Malidoma Patrice Somé. Unfortunately, I won't get my copy before November. I'll try and read another book on Burkina Faso instead, and read On Water and the Spirit later.
My nr. 4 for November is Africa 39 ed. by Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, which I started earlier this year, and planned to finish for the bingo anyway, so two birds...
My no 4 is Land Without Thunder by Grace Ogot and there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon that I will start and finish this within this month :)))
Wim wrote: "My #4 is Looking for Transwonderland: Travels in Nigeria by Nigerian author Noo Saro-Wiwa."
I read that earlier this year and found it quite interesting!

My number 10 is So Long a Letter. If I manage to get into the mood to read it, it will be my 7th book for this challenge. Considering that I normally read by whim and not by preconceived plan this is quite a lot for me, so thanks a lot, Diane, for hosting this challenge :))!!
My first read in 2022 will be Bird Summons by Leila Aboulela. I am looking forward to re-reading this hillarious road trip of three Arab women on their pilgrimage to a Muslim's grave in the Scottish Highlands ;))

That's a great book. We read it as a group read 4 years ago.
I will be reading The Book of Not by Tsitsi Dangarembga, a sequel to her famous Nervous Conditions.

Well I am already off to a slow start...this year has been busier than expected. Fortunately my #10 Feb read is a short one! I aim to be reading So Long a Letter by Mariama Bâ.
I am still on track. My number 10 is A Girl Is a Body of Water by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi which is one of the longer titles on my list.
My number 10 is short story collection Sueurs froides by Burkinese author William Aristide Nassidia Combary.
I will be reading The Rabbi's Cat and The Rabbi's Cat 2 by Joann Sfar. The setting is Algeria in the 1930s.
I'll be reading Everything Good Will Come by Sefi Atta, a historical fiction on the years after the Biafran war in Nigeria.
I was hoping for a short and quick read, as April will be a busy month at work and with some other reading to finish, but my number 13 is the 700 pager The Fortunes of Africa: A 5,000-Year History of Wealth, Greed, and Endeavor by Martin Meredith...

My April read will give me the chance to finish January :))
For April I will be reading An Eternity in Tangiers by Titi Faustin which should be an afternoon's read.
