Chanda Presley | 1 comments I’m reading Look for Me by Lisa Gardner and Bitter Harvest by Anne Rule. Bitter Harvest is very good so far. I just started Look for Me and it’s interesting so far. I’m also reading Secrets of The Vine for the 3 rd time because it’s my favorite and very inspirational. I started reading Experiencing God for the 2nd time because it’s also a fav of mine. As you can see, I like all varieties and genres. I love to read. I read in almost all of my spare time and I even read at work when nothing is going on. Reading is my passion. If only I could get paid to do it. I’d be a very rich girl!! I hope everyone out there is enjoying their current reads. God bless and Happy Reading!!!!!

I did! I finished Recursion. It was ok. The first half was better than the second half which had inconsistencies and too much repetition for my taste. I gave it 3 stars.

I'm almost done with Dark Site (85%). It is very interesting and I can't wait to read the end.

I've made a little progress on The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes & The Vanishing Season, but not enough to note.

In the meantime, I read The Dark Prophecy which as very typical Rick Riordan. It was good and I laughed out loud a few times at Apollo's arrogance.

I also read Doctor Who: The Stone Rose for a challenge I was doing. It was just ok. I found it to be boring and a bit messy with the time travel.

I also read Fortunately, the Milk and thought it was a cute children's book.

Then, yesterday I read Cravings: Hungry for More and thought it was great. There are several recipes I want to try and I love Chrissy Teigen.

I also started The Lightning Thief with my grandson and it will probably take us all summer to read it.

I think I've been reading too much time travel lately and it's not a favorite genre of mine. It just seems to keep popping up in so many of the books I'm reading. I need to avoid it for a while.

Also, yes 5 is a lot. I prefer to have 2 going at a time, but sometimes I put one aside to read a challenge book or something like that, then end up with more and more on my currently reading shelf. I need to work on finishing up some of my already started books.

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments I finished 2 this week.
Monstrosity by Edward Lee Monstrosity - Great horror! Gross, violent and dumb characters.
my review

I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney I Know Who You Are
I did a buddy read here which was a lot of fun! I read it in just a couple days.
I can see why the reviews are so mixed! It provoked good conversation and thinking for the BR so I gave it a 4.
my review

Cori (camead) | 21 comments I'm working on finishing Fever Series before the next book is released! I've read Iced and Burned (Karen Marie Moning), Winter Street, Stillhouse Lake, and Where the Stars Meet the trees.

I love the Fever series. When is another coming out??

message 207: by Liv (new)

Liv | 3 comments I just read the book You Don’t Want to Know and it was absolutely amazing! I would say 5 stars for sure, I could not believe how many plot twists were in it. Such a great book, would highly recommend if looking for a good mystery/thriller.

I'm currently reading The Great Alone and Educated for my RL book clubs. There are some similar themes in both. I wouldn't want to grow up in either family!

message 211: by Savanes (new)

Savanes | 2107 comments I read both and I have to agree! Those families!!!

message 212: by Sheri Konopko (new)

Sheri Konopko | 2 comments I’m currently reading “The Nicklaus Boys”. The book isn’t drawing me in. I feel like an outsider looking in a window saying oh well, yes this happened in the early 1960’s in the south. I was hoping to feel something, ie anger, sympathy etc. I don’t , though. I’ll continue for s bit, but.., who knows

I just finished Circe and I loved it! I read the whole book over the course of a Saturday. I normally like fantasy but haven't been very much into Greek/Roman mythology - however, this book was wonderful!

I thought Circe was a terrific character - she was very real and easy to identify with. Also I've seen some reviews that said the story was 'slow' but I thought it was paced well and definitely kept me interested.

Next I'm doing the audio book for Beguilement. I've read it several times already but I thought the audio version would be fun 🎧

Sheri Konopko | 2 comments Reading three terrific books right now:
The Tattooist of Auschwitz. It’s a love story, both sad and touching, also shows daily how they tried to survive.

The second book is: the Nicole Boys. The story of a bright black boy in the south in the 1950’s. I think. Maybe the 60’s. He is changing as circumstances change. The third book is a ghost story called Deliverance of Temperance Dare by Wendy Webb. Love her writing. She sucks you in and doesn’t let go until the end.

Sheri, there is a second book now about Cilka. It is called Cilka's Journey. If you enjoy The Tattooist of Auschwitz, I'd recommend it. It was really good.

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments Finished The Grace Year by Kim Liggett The Grace Year and unexpectedly LOVED it.
I couldn't put it down. It really ran me through all the feels. I almost wanted to cry at some parts.
It is young adult, but read a little darker than that so I think it will appeal to more than just YA fans.
I would recommend checking it out!

So good! I voted for that in the choice awards, Vicki. I wrote it in first round, but it didn’t get many votes. I don’t think enough people are aware of it.

Vicki Willis | 1033 comments Kristie, I just read your review. It was great! Can you tell me, in spoilers of course, what you didn't like about the end?

**If you have not read The Grace Year, please DO NOT read the following spoiler. It gives away the end of the book.**

I don't like endings that are (view spoiler)

I've considered going back and changing my star rating a couple of times. I really wish we could do 1/2 stars. I may still decide to go back and round it up.

message 220: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 2 comments I’m currently reading Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. I really came to like her writing style after reading The Prayer Box. BWWY takes place not far from me and I enjoy reading books with familiar locations. That may be why I’m also a Grisham fan. This book was recommended to me by the Barnes and Noble store manager after finishing the book Promise—another good historical fiction (my favorite genre)

message 221: by Bub (new)

Bub | 49 comments Thanks for that introduction Jennifer. I’m also a big fan of historical fiction and I’ll add that to my list. Cheers!
