It did have some slow areas and well Zusak kind gets long winded in some parts of the book. Liesel story will break your heart. Just go with the flow with the book it picks up when it slows down. After reading i watched the movie so it kind of made reading the book worth it.

I have a few GR friends that didn't care for it. It is our monthly read for one of my RL book clubs and I suggested it, so I'm curious to see what everyone thinks.

Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America right now and boy it is a tough subject. The history of the Pharma business and how they buried reports and bribed Drs. Very sketchy - Of course, no one wants to take responsibility for it. No matter how you feel about addiction and the treatment/medical responsibility for addiction, you will feel for the families who are living this life every day.
Even though I have about 100 pages left, It is going to be a 5 star read for me.
Interestingly, the other two NF books off the list I have read were also 5 star reads! And NF isn't a genre I read a lot. So I feel like the Choice Awards did well this year for NF.

This looks interesting. I find myself reading more and more nonfiction these past few years. I might hit adulthood by my fortieth birthday, who knows? ;)
I finished Harry Potter and Goblet of Fire which I loved and currently reading my lovely wife.
I am currently reading Where the Crawdads Sing finally! My husband picked it up for me for Mother's Day. I am so excited :) I just finished V.C. Andrews Dollenganger's series. Oh my goodness.. the anger and twists to those books made me depressed. I haven't read the prequel yet, I needed a break from the glum! Lol
I am reading Where the Crawdads Sing. I started it last night and haven't been able to put it down.It is hard to believe it is her first novel.
I just finished ‘The Wife Between Us’ and I really disliked it. UGH. It got great reviews and I was sucked in right away. I walked away rolling my eyes. I just started ‘The Other Einstein’ and it’s going to be a really fast read so we will see.

I'll Never Tell today and this is my kind of book!It has to do with something that happened at a summer camp 20 years ago. The children of the family who owns the summer camp are coming together in current time because the parents have died and they will be reading the will to see what happens to the estate.
I am not very far in, but already I like how it will go back and forth between timelines. And just the summer camp vibe brings back memories or my summer camp days!

I recently finished The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. It's sort of magical realism with ancient Welsh kings and psychics. It was really good and such an easy read. Magical realism usually goes over my head, but I loved this.
Just finished Where the Crawdads Sing. Oh my goodness I loved this book! It required you to take your time reading it as the imagery was very vivid (nature, poems, biology, etc), yet I never wanted to put it down! I passed this book the first go around, decided to ask for it for Mother's Day (lol), and finished it in about a week!

I just started The Hidden Oracle in preparation for our group read of the later books in the series. So far, it's good, just like his other similar series.
I'm also starting The Vanishing Season so I'll be caught up with the series.
Started The Wife Between Us yesterday! I'm already sucked in! I can't wait to be able to dive in for hours.
Hi All - I'm currently reading The Witch Elm. So far, so okay. Also readingWuthering Heights which I am enjoying more than expected and lastCirce which is Audio version. On Circe - I was going to bag it as it is not my normal Genre but I am so glad i did not.

Even though I just finished Where the Crawdads Sing, I read The Wife Between Us within 5 days and am now on Miracle Creek. The last two are my book of the month's selection and I am so glad I gave them a chance! I'm in the beginning of Miracle Creek but thus far I like the pace and the mystery.
I just finished Wicked Saints and am nearly done with Foundryside. I am about to start We Hunt the Flame and One Word Kill

I loved The Wife Between Us too. That's what I like about book clubs. Sometimes (often) you read books outside of your comfort zone and you can discover a whole new world.

The narration did not fit the book at all. The story itself was good. I plan on rereading it in print before I pick up the second book (that is not out yet).

Hi I'm Stephanie, I'm new to the group and looking to get conversations started again on goodreads...I find that people don't comment much in other groups and that makes me sad because I'm hear to talk about books! Anyway, I just finished the YA contemporary series Thunder Road by Katie McGarry last weekend and I love it! This series is a little on the older side and has been on my TBR since 2015! It is about rival motorcycle gangs and each book is about a different prospect for the club and their love interest.
I am currently reading Opposite of Always by Justin a. Reynolds which is a newer YA contemporary release about time travel. I'm looking forward to reading it!
Loved the Outsider. I am a huge King fan. This is one of his best. I am 75 and have read almost all of his books. Loved most of them.

I also loved The Outsider and King in general. He is an amazing storyteller.
I just read The Glovemaker by Ann Weisgarber. It takes place in 1887 Utah, when historical tensions between Mormons and Gentiles put families and individuals in danger. Deborah, the glovemaker, finds herself in the middle of such a crisis, and she struggles to do the right thing for everyone. She's a strong, memorable character, and the writing is as smooth as the cherished stones given to Deborah by her husband.

I agree! I'm currently reading Miracle Creek, which would never be on my radar. I'm also a part of The Book Of The Month Club which makes me venture out and try different authors and genres!

Opposite of Always is definitely different than most contemporary romance novels I've read because of the time travel aspect but so far its cute, fluffy, funny and fast paced! Over all I'm enjoying it! I'm almost half way through and I'm wondering how many times the main character is going to time travel / change the story...
Has anyone read The Weight of a Piano?
Currently reading Dune. I had heard a lot about this book - supposed to be the best Science Fiction book ever written or similar such praises. I have finished 2/3rd of the book and so far I have found the book to be very intriguing and unique - specifically the mix of religion/mysticism, tribe and themes taken from bedouin cultures in a sci-fi book. Looking forward to see how it ends.

Currently reading The Weight of a Piano
I loved The Book Thief. It came out as a YA book, but I thought it was equally appealing to adults. One of my favorite books. Loved the characters. It did take a little getting used to with the unusual sentences and images.

Yes, it took a bit to get used to, but I ended up thinking it was a really great story. I also loved the characters. I think it was labeled as YA just because of the age of the main character, but it didn't read like YA. It felt more adult, especially with death being the narrator.
Agree completely. I love it that you've logged 2257 books on Goodreads. I'll bet we've enjoyed a lot of the same ones.

I’m reading “The Alice Network.” I only have 60 pages left! I want to know how it ends so badly but I also don’t want the book to be over. I’ve really enjoyed this one, even though it can be devastating at time!! This is one of those books where I’ll think about the characters long after I finish reading the last page.

Recursion - 85% I'm not loving this one. It's feeling longer than it is and repetitive. I plan to finish this one today.
Dark Site - 44% Loving this one. It's interesting that we know more than the main characters at the moment, even though they should know more than us. I'm really curious to see where this is going to go.
The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes - 11% So far this one is just meh. It has some good ratings and I'm expecting a heartfelt story, but it didn't jump right into it.
The Vanishing Season - 15% I love this series. I don't really know much yet, but can't wait to see what happens. It took a minute to remember who was who because half the time the characters are referred to by their first names and half the time by their surnames.
Sold on a Monday - 35% This one started slow for me. It was just starting to get interesting when I had to put it aside for another read. It was taking longer than it should to get through. I hope to be back to it soon.
I'm hoping to wrap these all up this month. This is more than I am comfortable with to be reading at any one time. Typically, I like to have two books going at once, one physical and one audio.
Wow 5 books at the same time, that's a lot but a good selection. Did you finish any since you last posted?
