YES .... That is ... I noticed the "d" was up and I had not yet finished the book, though now that I look back over the threads, I guess I didn't post it immediately. I know I finished the book that night just before I went to bed.

An interesting look at the competitive world of high end residential real estate in New York City but way too much name dropping to suit me. I had to read it for the nonfiction book club.

message 2333: by Karen (new)

Karen | 621 comments Finished V for Violin with The Mozart Season by Virginia Euwer Wolff by Virginia Euwer Wolff.

Such a beautiful book - it brought tears to my eyes more than once. Jan - Both of my parents earned music degrees from Juilliard (voice and piano accompanist) so even though I inherited none of their talent, music has always been a hugely important part of my life too. It's fun to come across a book that is a bit out of the mainstream and an author who is genuinely interested in teaching you what she knows. I'm so glad I read it.

message 2334: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 21026 comments I'm so very glad you enjoyed it Karen! It sounds like music has been a huge part of your life. This is the perfect book for those who understand all the time and practice that goes into making such beautiful music.

Looking for E

message 2348: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1651 comments Just finished Z for horizon. The mystery was really good, but the writing style cost the book a full star. One of the primary characters actually talks in text acronyms -- instead of saying "got to go," she says "GTG" -- which then has to be 'translated' for the reader.

Even more annoying, though, are the frequent bullet lists (!!)
"The highlights of the story:
* blah blah
* blah blah
* blah blah"

I get that she might be thinking that way, but to actually *write it that way in the book? Ugh!

All that said, I probably will read the next in the series when I can use a beekeeper somewhere in a challenge :)

Mind Your Own Beeswax (Queen Bee #2), by Hannah Reed, finished 11/18/21 ★★★

message 2350: by Jan, Moderator (new)

Jan | 21026 comments You are generous with your rating. That would have driven me crazy Barb. But I'm finding right now I have little patience and more and more books are getting a 2 star rating from me.
