So I can't remember the title or author. It's an older book probably set in the 1920s era.
Basically there's a family that ran a town and the parents (Father's name was Vernon Hall) died in a buggy accident.
The children were split up and the oldest Mandy Hall was sent to college. She returns home after four years with her friend Harper hoping to open a college for the poor there and also to reunite their family. She's angry because a man has moved to town and changed it in her absence. What she doesn't know is that this man was her father's friend and also their self appointed guardian.
I think the book cover had something to do with a village on it, but I'm not sure. It was a paperback. This is all I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated
