Fiction or non-fiction will do. What books can you think of to help our fellow readers?

Annalisa | 20 comments I dont know how much space information people feel need to be in the book to meet the challenge, but I always think American Elsewhere by Robert Jackson Bennett is a really great book for people who aren't that into science fiction themes and might be worth suggesting. It gets into descriptions of space and other beings towards the end of the book, but the first half reads like a fiction story about a girl trying to find out about her mother and has a lot in it about family dynamics. Theres some strangeness to which ties into the second half being quite a bit more science fiction. I'm trying not to spoil though so I can't get too into the space part, but I do think it works. In any case, it's a favorite book of mine and one I think people might appreciate if this topic makes them nervous and isnt their thing. I just hope it is enough of a Space book. I'm sure it's a great book for those who like this topic too. I just know that at the time I read it, I wasnt into reading about any of that stuff but it pulled me in and I loved it so much I actually opened me up to that genre more and I like a lot in it now.

That's a fantastic suggestion! And I'm a fan of trying any books that's considered a "favorite" of the person who suggests it.

Danielle (librarian19) | 45 comments The Martian by Andy Weir was amazing. Fits two categories this year - made into a movie and about space.

Caren | 18 comments I sort of cheated on this one. I have done a few" other planet" books for other challenges but this year I decided The Astronaut Wives Club was as close to space as I wanted to go. And if you believe the line that the wives had to take care of everything so their husbands could concentrate on going into space.....well, it's a glimpse into the status of women not that long ago.
