Lorraine (pttsbrgher) Now that we're post or in the middle of the Holiday season, what books did everyone get?

I got a box set of the first four Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. I started watching the STARZ series, and as always, I know books to be superior so I'm excited to dive into them and see what I've been missing.

I also got books 2 and 3 of the Harry Potter series ... the ILLUSTRATED versions by Jim Kay. The drawings in these are fantastic! I want these illustrated ones for both myself and grandchildren in the future.

I am happy. :o)

What did everyone else get?

I also unwrapped a new (for me) HP book:
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Plus, three more on my eclectic book wish list:
Lethal White
Children of Blood and Bone
From a Certain Point of View

Surprisingly, I didn't get any books as gifts this time around. However, my kids received several B&N gift cards and their gift to me is to each buy me one book. I'm thinking...

Lethal White
Fawkes
The Defense

Luiz Fernando | 62 comments Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for everyone!

I got a box with the complete H.P. Lovecraft Collection, divided in four books. The last book is reserved for his poems.

I was so excited with this, I've started reading the first book yesterday. The covers are amazing!

I also got a box with a collection of books called "The Cemetery of Forgotten Books", by a spanish autor called Carlos Ruiz Zafón.

The four books are called The Shadow of the Wind, The Angel’s Game, The Prisoner of Heaven and Tthe Labyrinth of the Spirits. I've heard that they are amazing! It seems that no matter in what order you read the three first, because they are different stories that connect in the last book. Very interesting. however I'm looking to read them in the order of publication.

I hope you all enjoy your books.

Lorraine (pttsbrgher) Bardbooks -- I have FBAWTFT as well. Great book. That will take you into the new Harry Potter spin-off movies understanding more. Quite delightful.

I love this ... I'm getting ideas for my reading list for 2019 from some of your gifts. :o)

Wow, the entire Lovecraft collection!

Very intrigued by your mention of The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, so I rooted about online and discovered a good plot summary and suggested reading order in this post on the Smithsonian's Asian Pacific Americans Center:

Thank you SO much for mentioning this set of books, as it led me to discover a wonderful book blog.

Thanks -- I'm really happy to finally own one of the illustrated books!
Also finding ideas for 2019 -- now, if only someone can provide a magical spell that creates more time for reading! (Time Turner necklace?)

Luís Felipe Mansur (lfmansur) | 1 comments Hey guys, I’m reading “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari. It’s been really interesting and quite easy to read, although being a very complex subject. Which I think encourages you to keep reading because you feel so “smart” for understanding it LOL but it also makes me wonder if it’s not such a shallow approach on the matter, and if I should believe in it...
Has anyone read it here?
Enjoy your holidays and Happy new year!

Catrennia | 13 comments I received "Becoming" by Michelle Obama. It is written in such easy, readable prose that it just flows. Really enjoying!

I've been thinking about that autobiography -- sounds like a fascinating look inside the White House, as well as an interesting woman's life.

Kyra Keeton | 61 comments I received 2 books this year, Blood Communion and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I already had "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" but my mom got both books for me so I will be trying to return the one that I bought myself over Thanksgiving break if I can. I'll be looking for something else though, but I'm not sure what.
