Theodore Cohen (theodorejeromecohen) | 1449 comments If it's very salty, they would float (think the Dead Sea). If people are worried about their salt intake and go for the low-salt variety, then you might be in trouble unless it's very thick and gooey. (;>)

The fact is, I really don't know for sure.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Dead bodies float in the sea (gas inside) and have to be weighted down to keep them down. In an industrial sized vat perhaps they could be rammed to the bottom and it might be more difficult for them to float to the very top and be seen. If you don't want the body to be seen, you could make the pickle very thick.

I do hope you want this for a novel...

Sorry, I've just been watching a murder mystery on TV! And like Theodore, I couldn't be sure about this!

To make sure the vic sinks, have the perp tie a cinder block to their ankles. Works every time.

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 1814 comments Or, since it's science fiction, have it be Arcturan pickle relish, which everyone knows is so light that even a helium balloon would have trouble staying afloat in it.

;-)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Also take into account the vat size. People stuffed into oil barrels only just fill them. So they don’t float or sink. I know this from personal experience. It was it TV?
