Fantasy (i think adult, possibly Y/A) . A local wizard is tasked with finding the cause of an entire village disaperaing. He contacts 4 (or 5) other wizards with varying skills to help with his search. I remember the ending but "no spoilers" allowed. I red it in the mid 2000's, no idea when it was published.

I’m pretty sure I’ve read the story you’re referring to, but I can’t quite put my finger on where. Could it possibly be one of the stories in The Green Man Tales from the mythic wood?

(Spoiler Ahead) Ending -The group search for the High wizard. .eventually finding him and discovering that he was the one responsible for the killing of the entire village he grew up in.
Randy, have the village buildings/homes/etc. vanished as well - or just the people (adults and children)?
Can you tell us more about the main wizard - his age, skills/powers, family/friends, etc.? Why was he chosen? Was he from the village?

You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 113 where fewer eyes will see it.
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!
