Edie | 1147 comments On the second board, the title for squares 39,40, 45,46 is (view spoiler)

message 102: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1147 comments I did the emoji game. Feeling good about getting 7 of them. I am not an emoji person, so initially I figured out only 2.

message 103: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I know the first one, but not how to do spoilers!

message 104: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments I just played the emoji game and think I got 7 of them. I have also done all the games this week thus far.

message 105: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments I got another hour and 10 minutes of The Hobbit listened to, putting my audiobook total at 5.5 so far, which I think completes task 14 for us.
I also read another 84 pages of Jane Eyre, bringing my page total to 112 thus far.

message 106: by Erica (new)

Erica | 555 comments Hi everyone,
Sorry I’ve been busy but I finally finished a book: We’ll Never Be Apart by Emily Jean. I’m also about halfway through the book that can count for the S-N-O-W prompt if still needed.

message 107: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
Thank you for the concise update on the guesses, Mindy. I am back at home after my holiday travels but dipping quickly in and out made the process a bit confusing.

The first board has been updated to reflect that all book have been guessed correctly, along with the connection (originally written in Spanish).

Edie | 1147 comments Traci wrote: "I know the first one, but not how to do spoilers!"

To do spoilers you put the word *spoiler in < > and then after your entry you put */spoiler in < > Don't include the *

message 109: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1147 comments Mindy, we need to have #36 uncovered.

message 110: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1147 comments I finished The Magician's Elephant which can check off #26 book with a wintery cover. On the cover the elephant is falling from the sky along with snow. This added 201 pages to my total.

message 111: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Yay, our guess was right for board 1. Thank you, Edie and Mini!

Veronica, thank you for getting us through task 14. That one was quite a hanger on. I've noted your pages read also.

Erica, no worries! I've added your book, and also am counting it for an AtY challenge book. If you didn't use it for one, it works for Title that is a Whole Sentence. I also think it counts as a beautiful cover but let me know if you or anyone disagrees. I admit I have a thing for trees.

We have the S-N-O-W challenge covered, but what we're hurting most for is pages and books read, so anything and everything that we get read is GREAT.

message 112: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Edie, you're right, thanks.

Laura, for board 2, will you uncover #35 #36 #37 and #47 when you get a chance? Thanks!

For board 1, we have finished #14 and #15.

message 113: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Erica, I noticed WNBA is a debut novel, so I used it for that task instead of beautiful cover, which I think will be easier.

Off to read now. I'll check in again before bedtime.

message 114: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments Ok I read Eversea

358 pages.

This can count for:
A book that is first in a series
A "heartwarming" book

I didn't know where we needed it more.

I updated my page count and my number of books.

The book also counted for the ATY challenge and I'm not officially done the 2018 challenge!!!

message 115: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I read a comic book

Spider-Man: Spidey Strikes Back!

Prompt #40 is completed

My daughter has been into marvel comics and she just recently got some comic books from the library so that was easy to do and it helped me complete another book for the overall goodreads challenge.

message 116: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Thanks, Edie and Joan. 4 more tasks knocked off -- it's been a good day!

Will someone who hasn't played a game yet please play Lost Characters and let us know?

message 117: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments I just finished Jane Eyre. It can count for ATY books read and I read 135 pages today, bringing my total read to 247.

I played lost characters yesterday.

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments task 40 still isn't marked as done - that's the comic book one. That's one of the ones that I did yesterday.

It was actually refreshing to read a comic book. I might read more of those in the future.

message 121: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Veronica, I've recorded your new stats. How did you like Jane Eyre? And would you consider your copy to have a beautiful cover? LOL

Joan, I have you down for the game, thank you. I did record task 40 on the spreadsheet, I just haven't asked Laura to uncover it yet. I'm trying to bug her only so many times per day. haha. We completed 4 more tasks that I recorded late last night, so I was going to see what we get done today and report everything at once tonight.

Thanks all!

message 122: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I'm almost finished A Christmas Carol Do you think that would count for a heartwarming story? Do we still need that one? Not sure where else to put it.

I loved Jane Eyre - Veronica I hope you enjoyed it.

message 123: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I have finished A Christmas Carol - I updated my pages and books but didn't know if you wanted to throw that one in the heartwarming category.

I'm starting Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay which does have a pretty cover.

message 124: by Lieke (new)

Lieke | 697 comments I read 98 pages of Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige and I finished Groeten uit Brabant een ontdekkingsreis which was 192 pages.
My reading isn't going very well, hope the new year will start better.

message 125: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (ronireads13) | 816 comments Mindy and Joan- I loved Jane Eyre! It took me nearly two months to get through, bit it was worth it. I will definitely re- read it someday.

While I would not not say my copy of Jane Eyre has a pretty cover, I have [bookcover:Sea Witch|36502054 which i think is pretty if we still need it. I can also look for a non_fiction book

Good to hear from you Lieke. Every book and page counts... some of us have more (or less) going in their lives than others.

message 127: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments I finished Red Clocks which could count as a book nominated for an award in 2018 if goodreads awards counts. We've also finished tasks 3 and 9.

I'm starting a nonfiction next and am listening to a beautiful cover (will be able to listen again tomorrow) if we end up needing those whenever I finish.

Diana (dianapharah) | 49 comments I finished Man's Search for Meaning which is a nonfiction book and works for prompt 44. It also counts for one of my AtY challenges.

message 132: by Tabitha (last edited Dec 30, 2018 09:12PM) (new)

message 133: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Joan: Most definitely on Christmas Carol, it's perfect for that category! I've added it there and that task is done.

Lieke: Totally agree with Edie. Thank you for checking in, it sure helps.

Traci: Great, I've put Red Clocks in as the award-winner task. I'm sure I'll finish Washington Black by Tuesday, but a bird in the hand and all that. How did you like Red Clocks? I have it on my tbr.

Diana: Yay on the non-fiction! Thanks, and thanks for doing today's game.

So specific task-wise, all we have left is the beautiful cover with a few of you working on that one. Aside from that, we just have to read, listen, and play the games. :-)

Edie and Traci: Amazing on the covers for board 2!

Tabitha: Got you added in. Your two books got us to the 40 book goal, task 24.

Wow, great day, all! Pat yourselves on the back.

message 134: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Laura: We've completed #s 3, 9, 24, 26, 31, 34, 40, 42, 44, & 46!

message 138: by Laura, Celestial Sphere Mod (new)

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
Updating the boards now. No worries on multiple updates per day. I usually just remove squares every morning so you can update however often works for you :)

message 139: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1147 comments It looks like the number of pages per person has been increased to 2000 and 2500 for #30 and #33 respectively. Stella, you were at 1500 days ago, so perhaps you have some pages to add.

message 140: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments The book starting with box 37 is (view spoiler) and with box 37 is (view spoiler). These all (view spoiler) I've read 4 of the 6 and one is on my tbr. Guess I should add the last one too!

message 141: by Traci (new)

Traci (tracibartz) | 1275 comments Oops. That second one is starting with box 27. Can't edit comments on my phone.

message 142: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments I updated the spreadsheet for Fantastic Beasts and my total pages and total books.

We really got a lot done. I'll be reading a little bit more but I need to catch up on housework and work so I won't be reading as much now. Although Bird Box hooked me in the first chapter.

message 143: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1147 comments Traci wrote: "Oops. That second one is starting with box 27. Can't edit comments on my phone."

Great, that gives us all of the titles. I agree the theme is (view spoiler)

message 144: by Edie (new)

Edie | 1147 comments Finished David and Goliath which adds 275 pages to my total. I have a couple of other books in progress, and I hope to finish one of them by tomorrow.
One of my favorite reads in the past few years was The Thirteenth Tale and I was so excited to find a new book by Diane Satterfield at the library today. So I will be plunging into Once Upon a River ...for the start of the new year and new challenges.

message 145: by Mindy (new)

Mindy Jones (mindyrecycles) Joan: Yay for the beautiful cover!

Veronica: I added your pages.

Erica: I upped your pages and your book count.

Laura: Thank you! I'll get a report in late tonight so it's ready for your morning uncoverings. :-)

Shelley: Yes if you've added to your already awesome page count, please let us know or adjust the spreadsheet.

Edie and Traci: Looks like you've cracked board 2. Amazing! I'll put everything together into a tidy guess for Laura.

Happy New Year, all. I finished Washington Black today and made more progress on House of Broken Angels. Also got the tree taken down and my husband put together my new garage shelf which was my favorite Christmas present. Haha. So there was garage organizing, too. We both feel very accomplished.

We'll see if I make it past midnight for my final check-in tonight. :-)

message 149: by redatt (new)

redatt (mini_sagas) | 66 comments I have played the terribly unsettling 'Would you rather' game. I've tried to play the Lost Character's game too, but it seems I'm awfully bad at remembering names :-/

message 150: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 425 comments I didn't do nearly as much reading the past few days as I expected, but I did finish Lady Midnight, which pushed me past the 2,500 mark. Also, if the beautiful cover category hasn't been finished yet, I think this book is gorgeous.
