I would definitely make my number one suggestion Black Science, Vol. 1: How to Fall Forever. Think 50's Sci-Fi Pulp about an anarchistic Fantastic Four with 1980's family drama in a Land of the Lost scenario. Yes it's just as insane as that sounds, but the pay off is really well done.
