Ethan H1 (summary)

Auggie pullman, is a kid from manhattan new york. Auggie is not you average 10 year old he has been through numerous surgerys. His whole life is flipped when he stops homeschool and decides to go to a school for the first time. He has to overcome many things at this school like bullying, making friends, and even just plain out being accepted.

(conflict)

The problem has been throughout his whole life, to just be accepted by society. Ever since auggie was born he's had problems with community. It's so bad that auggie can't simply walk through the park with having kids cry when they see his face. It has been pretty tolerable all up until he is forced to go to a public school for the first time. His whole life is just turned upside down. He has to deal with people bullying him, talking behind his back. When he goes to a tour of beecher prep he is greeted with three kids in the same grade julian, jack will, and summer. Throughout the year these are his friends or what he thinks are his friends. Julian was bribed by his parents to be friends with august he's just acting like it. Later on august starts receiving extremely rude letters in his locker and it turns out it was julian all along, auggie does not know about this until he hears him talk behind his back on halloween saying “if i had a face like his i would kill myself”. Auggie then starts to just hangout with jack will and summer who are really good friends such good friends that when jack will sees julian bullying auggie he stands up for him and punches julian. Which later leads julian to be suspended. Ever since this incident things start to change for the better. He meets even more friends, he wins student of the year, and he's accepted who he his and is not afraid other people's thoughts anymore. R.J. Palacio did a amazing job on this book, i think she wants teen readers to learn to never judge a book by its cover and just dont bully.

Overall I Loved the book its an amazing book that i think everyone should read sometime in their life. Sure it starts off sad but he ends up loving the school and accepting who he is. I love how the book is spoken by many different characters and you can see what they are going through to, it's hard to find books with multiple perspectives. Overall i give the book a 9.5/10. I recommend this book to everyone of all ages, it's a heartwarming story that everyone should know.
