Ben Washington Of all the characters, side characters or POV characters, who are your top 5 that you look forward to reading about each time you crack open one of the books?

For me:

1.) Arya Stark
2.) Tyrion Lannister
3.) Sandor Clegane
4.) Varys
5.) Strong Belwas

Honorable mention: Doloros Edd and Bronn

Iris 1.- Brienne of Tarth (Of Evenfall)
2.- Sansa Stark (Of Winterfell)
3.- Jaime Lannister (Of Casterly Rock)
4.- Daenerys Targaryen (Stormborn, Mother of Dragons etc.)
5.- Tyrion Lannister (Of Casterly Rock)

I might switch out Tyrion for Cersei.

C 1) Tyrion Lannister
2) Jaime Lannister
3) Arya Stark
4) Cersei Lannister
5) Petyr Baelish
(I kind of hate Cersei and Petyr, though)

Laura Herzlos I think I can't choose only 5... Also, some characters I like "as people" and others "as characters". For example, I think Cersei and Tywin Lannister are wonderful characters, fascinating to read, but they are both terrible people who did terrible things. But Brienne of Tarth, for example, I like in both ways. She's a great character and also a wonderful woman. I like too many characters to make a list.

Akash Goel Iris wrote: "I might switch out Tyrion for Cersei. "

Added that to my list of "1001 things I heard that made me super-ticklish".
Seriously though, why?

Iris Well Tyrion is a good character, but his endless whining about Tysha takes its toll on me. I only want to read his chapters because of the characters he's interacted with on his journey. Cersei on the other hand is a fascinating character. She craves love, power, adoration. She doesn't have her priorities straight though and she herself is not entirely sure of what she wants so it makes for a more interesting read as she tries to figure herself out.

I've convinced myself, 5th is Cersei. Bye-bye Tyrion.

Adam Evans 1. Victarion
2. Arya
3. Tyrion
4. Wyman Manderly
5. Strong Belwas

Theres so many to choose from.

Melissa 1. Brienne of Tarth
2. Bran
3. Jon Snow
Aaaand... all the other characters are getting terribly dull.

Ben Washington Interesting to see so much Brienne love, I've read more people complain about her "geography" chapters than about any other character (with the possible exception of Bran).

message 10: by Iris (new) - rated it 3 stars

Iris Brienne is the best! I love her, I was so excited when we got her POV. I was her for Halloween in 2011.

Matthew 1 - Tyrion
2 - Jon Snow
3 - Arianne
4 - Bran
5 - Arya

Arianne potentially not being in the show really worries me, but I'm sure they will make Lady Nym good enough to compensate.

All those are placeholders though, for Howland Reed, who better make an appearance (if he hasn't already of course).

Akash Goel Iris wrote: "Well Tyrion is a good character, but his endless whining about Tysha takes its toll on me. I only want to read his chapters because of the characters he's interacted with on his journey. Cersei on ..."

I get you. But I think that only when she was truly broken, did she decide that it was better to get it over with (the naked parade and endless catcalling). But I could totally guess all her other actions right from the start.

Although, Tyrion admittedly has become a Tysha-phone, still I find his wit beyond anything, and he always seems to find trouble, along with getting a way out of it shortly as well (no pun intended).

He is not my favorite character though, Arya is. That skinny little thing will be shearing dragons before you know it.

Martina Sansa
Melisandre
Tyrion
Cersei
Stannis

(and Arya, Davos...) :D
Seems like 5 characters is too few :D

Sydnee Arya Stark
Tyrion Lannister
Jon Snow
Daenerys Targaryen
Jaime Lannister

Arya is my favorite because she is constantly in a new place with new obstacles to overcome and her story is very interesting to me.

Tyrion because of the excellent dialogue.

Jon Snow...I'm still hoping he is somehow... not a "ghost" for the rest of the series.

Daenerys because I like her strategies when taking cities and I can not wait to see her get a lot of chapters in the next book!

Never thought I'd feel sorry for someone who pushed a boy out of a window, but Jaime is the one character I hope continues to evolve.

Xiggy this is hard....
Arya Stark
Bran Stark
Jamie Lannister
Tyrion Lannister
Daenerys Targaryen

Shehan These are characters i like TO READ,
1. Theon Greyjoy aka Reek - A traitorous bastard, but well written
2.Arya Stark - She doesn't whine about her miseries all the time, a practical girl.
3. Davos - Someone with a sense of loyalness
4. Samwell Tarly - Hell of a (un)lucky boy
5.Tyrion Lannister - I would have put the tricky dwarf to top of the list, but his whining about love life had its toll upon me.
Ned Stark should be on the list, but the man just failed to keep his head on the right place

Jeske No definite order, but my favs (or characters I'm merely looking forward to reading about are) Jaime, Brienne, Bran, Jon and Sansa

Holly In alphabetical order:

1. Arya Stark

Jacob 1. Jon Snow,998th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch
2. Ser Jaime of House Lannister of Casterly Rock,The King slayer; Lord Commander of the King's Guard
3. Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen of King's Landing, The Mother of Dragons; The Unburnt; The Breaker of Chains; Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men; Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and protector of the realm
4. Arianne of House Martell of Sunspear, Princess of Dorne
5. Sansa of House Stark of Winterfell

message 20: by Paul (new) - rated it 5 stars

Paul Raich 1) Arya Stark -- feisty, gutsy, and brave. What is not to like except that GRRM will kill her off at end. (But not before she takes down the Lannisters and brings back glorious summer for the House of Stark.)
2) Jon Snow -- He is one of the two most pivot characters that the whole series revolves around.
3) Brienne of Tarth -- a tragic character, who is braver and has more honor than all the male knights that mock her.
4) Tyrion Lannister -- the shrewd imp, who has the guile of Odysseus grows on you.
5) Barristan Selmy -- All that is good, right and honorable about the King/Queensguard.

Ad.costas Tyrion
Arya
Daenerys
Jon
Also there is this new guy I find interesting, though I 'm not sure he's going to last, Jon Connington.

Scott Jon, Tyrion, Arya, Brienne.

5th is harder...probably Sam, though Daenerys is finally growing on me, and Bran, Jaime, and Sansa are not far behind.

Thomas -Euron Greyjoy (Even though I'm one of the only ones to like him and his plot, I think he's a different kind of Greyjoy. Not as stupid as his brothers.
-Jon Connington (I prefer him rather than Aegon)
-Jaime Lannister (Especially in the last books where he becomes more human and his storyline more interesting)
-Margery Tyrell (Most interesting woman of the story, way better than Daenerys, just can't understand people loving her...)
-Varys (Especially since the end of the last book with the Aegon plot)

But i'm not sure about the order.
That's it ^^ Agreeing ?
