Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 37 comments Is there any way to review a book without assigning it a rating? I'd like to review The Secret Trial of Robert E. Lee, but I don't feel comfortable giving it a star rating, as the book takes a very strong position on the character and motives of several historical characters, and I'm not confident that I can assess that position adequately.

rivka Absolutely. You can review a book and leave the stars field blank.

Karen A. Wyle (kawyle) | 37 comments How? When I go to the existing reviews, I don't see a way to add one. The only path I've ever taken to reviewing is by giving a star rating and then following the link for writing a review.

rivka The Want to Read button has a small bookshelf icon on the right. Hover over it, and you should get a dropdown of shelves. Select "read", and you'll go straight to the review page.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Or just make sure you have the book shelved as anything (usually a book being reviewed will be on "currently reading" or "read" shelves but that's not required, just that it be shelved).

Then go to the book page and you can click "add a review" in the My Review section. (If you just went to book page and clicked to shelve, might have to refresh the page to reflect the shelving).

Or go to a book page and where you see "...goodreads.com/book/show/####..." in the url change "show/####" to "review/edit/####" (every book here has a unique number that will replace the ####).
