The Mimosa Tree

While reading this book, I wanted to see a dynamic from Celia, something that was not vague nor bland, but something that not impacted her character, something that could give a theme or moral. In chapter 26 I found that dynamic, she cut down the mimosa tree in her backyard. To make this as open ended as possible, how does this action of cutting down the tree and the tree itself symbolizes Celia and her experiences during the story?
