Started today and so far, I'm thoroughly enjoying it! The tone is very light-hearted and modern in humor which works surprisingly well even though the book's set in (or close to) the Regency era of England.

(Spoilers up to ch. 3)(view spoiler)[ While I do like the sarcasm of main character Monty, he's maybe a tad too... idk vulgar... for my taste. Maybe it'll grow on me later. But it's so far the only thing that annoys me (at least that I can immediately think of) so the book is off to a good start! (hide spoiler)]

Binge-read this today because I was home from school due to terrible stomach cramps. It was such a fun book!

Monty: (view spoiler)[As I wrote in my earlier comment, I don't always like Monty's... vulgarity, but I ended up not minding that too much. What I liked less was perhaps how dense and insensitive he could be at times. But at the same time, I pitied him a lot with how he'd been treated by his father and his position in society as a bisexual young man from the upper-class in Regency England. He had a lot of demons to live with and he perhaps didn't choose the best coping mechanisms (drinking, sleeping around, being a cocky bastard) but I can maybe understand why he acted as he did. It doesn't excuse him, of course, and I'm glad he ended up showing some character growth by the end of the book. (hide spoiler)]

Representation: (view spoiler)[I'm perhaps not the best to judge this, but I felt like the representation in the book was really well done. It felt well-researched, and despite the time-period the book was set in, I feel like the author tackled it really well. Perhaps it's not realistic that two young lords, one of them poc, could have a relationship without being caught and condemned by society, but it works in the story. Extra points for bi representation, always nice to see <3 (hide spoiler)]

I agree, though by chapter 4, I'd already warmed up a bit more towards him

I definitely agree about the representation comment. (view spoiler)[i have a feeling that felicitymight be gay and we'd find that out in the next book. Some of her comments on kissing dante made me suspect it.
I really liked the scene where monty told felicity about his sexuality, and the conversation they had. (hide spoiler)]

Overall, it was a really fun adventure to read about!
I'm not sure whether or not i want to read the sequel yet. I liked the book well enough, but I'm not that interested in felicity as a character.
