Mie | 2165 comments Hi Rachael.
Just noticed, that your TBR pile at the beginning of the year was at 381, and now it is at - 381 😂
Was it supposed to go down?

message 169: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4779 comments Ha ha, guilty as charged! It was supposed to be reducing but I keep buying more books I want to read. However, I have been trying to read books on my TBR pile that I've had for a while first instead of newer books. I still have a month left to make it go down.

message 170: by Mie (new)

Mie | 2165 comments BUT - you have read over 80 books and exceeded your goal, so you have definitely earned the new books, if you ask me 😉
Well done! 🙌🙌🙌 (my best attempt to make an emojiwave, haha)

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4779 comments Goodreads Choice Awards Winners - my thoughts

* Picture Books: A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood ❌

Comments: I haven't read many books published in 2019. The books I did read and vote for mostly dropped out in the early rounds. Looking at the winners, there's not actually many I want to read (5/20). This is partly because I only read certain genres but also a tiny bit that they don't really appeal to me. However, I do want to read some of the other nominees.
I'm not sure if I'll be voting in future years as each year, there seems to be less choice for me. I am trying to read older books and often read newer books once the hype has passed.
I am absolutely gutted, though, that Dark Age by Pierce Brown didn't win the Science Fiction award because that is one of my favourite books I've read this year. I'm also now worried that some fan favourite characters are going to be killed off in Book 6 of the Red Rising Saga in revenge...
