Musing on a Monday: Reading the Extras

My family of males makes fun of my weeping. “Mom, it’s only a book/movie/TV commercial/song!” They just don’t get it. 😂

Curious thought: a book that makes me weep will invariably be in the 5 star bracket.

I misspoke earlier... it is The Holiday with Jude Law as the Weeper. Another fave of mine.

Oh my God, Susie, yes! A couple tear-jerking moments but that always hurt the most.

Add me to the crying club. Somehow every single time I watch a movie on the plane- I choose a movie that will make me cry. I don't know how I do it, but I'm sure I look like a crazy blubbering idiot, lol.

Also, I love gifs- just NOT in goodreads reviews! Not the appropriate setting!

Crying .... at almost every live theater performance (yes, even the funny ones)

Definitely when watching certain movies. Breaker Morant ... I start crying earlier and earlier because I know what's coming.

And a very few books. A Lesson Before Dying (see above re Breaker Morant) ... crying so hard I had to put the book down because I literally could not see the page clearly enough to keep reading.

I audibly sobbed when reading A Little Life, and now if anyone says the word Willem I get teary.

For someone who’s such a softie, it’s funny how often I don’t cry at books. I just pace and drink tea and sniffle slightly. But then they catch me at weird times. And invariably in a café or some other place where someone I know happens along just in time to spot the waterfall of tears, sigh.

BnB, as someone who cries at the drop of a hat, commercials get me too. Military sons coming home at Christmas to Folgers makes me tearful just thinking about it!

I'm surprised to see so many weepers! I'm definitely not a weeper myself, but when a book does make me weep, it's instantly going to get a high rating from me, no matter what I thought of the rest of the book. If an author can make me weep, I'm just so impressed that I can't give it a low rating, even if I hated it.
