Can you describe their world and what it looks like? What type of weapons and technologies are used?

Crystal (OP) was last active on the site in November 2019.
What i remeber from the plot was that there is a girl, and her back story gets touched upon a bit every few chapters but the novel is mostly relating to present events of the storyline. She has some type of mage, magical, telekenesis? not super sure on this anymore. Point is that she has abilties. There is a bit about her parents or teacher that was helping her with her abilities, the house in which this person gets targeted by the soldiers, since maybe having abilties is froundupon.
there is also a prince to that same country that must go into hiding since the capital gets seized. He's one of the last remaining members with a claim to the throne. Must be turned into a bird of sorts by some mages in order to escape the palace/ capital without getting caught by those enemies that seized power. Almost gets caught but manages to escape. I think he satys in that bird form for a good portion of the book and is later turned back into a human.
The girl with the abilties accompanies the boy throughout the rest of the book to protect him. Not sure if she knows him from before and it a personal guard or she is given the task later on and takes it upon herself to keep him safe.
I think at one point they have to blend into a boys boarding school. I think she disguises herself as a boy to stay beside the prince.
I'm not sure on anything else, maybe just the fact that there are portals in different location of the country that helps the two travel and run away when there is trouble.
