I just started The Outsider yesterday and it is soooo good.
I hope you'll like NOS4A2 as much as I did. It's perfect for this time of year.

message 19: by Vavita (new)

Vavita I hope you don’t mind I got the audio version. It is narrated by the great Kate Mulgrew. She ya an amazing narrator!

Exactly! Those opening pages were like a gut punch to me! One that left me needing more.:)

Thanks! Yes I do love group reads!

message 38: by Bob (new)

Bob | 32 comments So far, it’s compelling. 110 pages in. A lot of moving parts but it has one of the creepiest settings/scenes I have read in a very long time. Frighteningly frozen! The characters are all incredibly interesting and I think Maggie will be a favorite. I don’t think that was spoilerish?

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 2262 comments Yes!! Bob, I totally agree!

message 40: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 0 comments I really enjoyed this. The concept was pursued down to small details instead of being brushed with broad strokes. Neither the story line nor character choices were neat and convenient. I cringed, squirmed and May have bargained with the author and characters to not go down certain paths. Exceeded my expectations.

I adore Maggie, as well, Bob!

message 43: by Daniel (new)

Daniel | 1 comments Hello, my first post, i'm new here, and happen to be half way through.
Reminds me of Clive Barker a bit (The Great and Secret Show, but not the plot). How he weaves an undercurrent of strangeness just under the surface of normality. That has always appealed to me. Hey-ho, happy reading!

message 44: by Dustin (new)

Dustin A big welcome to ya, Daniel!😊

I'm pretty sure that Barker was an influence on Joe Hill. Happy reading!

message 45: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Budd | 22 comments Well, that's possibly the creepiest prologue I've ever read! Never read anything by Joe Hill but you can definitely see his dad's love of horror rubbed off on him ;)

message 46: by Vavita (new)

Vavita I find Joe Hill better. This book is really creepy

message 47: by Bob (new)

Bob | 32 comments I’ve got about 120 pages left and this is easily one of my top 7 favorite books of all time. (Better than top 10, not enuff for the top 5) but it’s not over yet. Chuck Manx is easily one of the most hated/likeable characters I’ve come across. Likeable is maybe not the right word but I think you’ll get what I mean. Just awesome up to this point.

It is really an interesting character. Let's see how Zachary Quinto plays it in the upcoming TV show. We still need to wait a bit, though

message 49: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Budd | 22 comments Are they making this into a show? That could be amazing! I'm only a few chapters in but already its so creepy!

message 50: by Sarah (new)
