If it's any consolation King, I'm sure the dark, self destructive monster that exists in your being will find other ways to manifest. I've personally discovered that massive amounts of caffeine can be relied upon to release the same social inhibitions that my ol' buddy booze typically releases.

So in short? Embrace it. Chaining the monsters kinda dreary, channeling him however? can be a total blast :D

p.s. I used to have a jolly time visualizing the battle against mine while listening to Ozzy's Diary of a Madman (give it a shot!)

Charissa (dakinigrl) Hey King... I just want to say good for you, dude, for fighting the good fight. I have 12 years of sobriety as of January, and sometimes it's still a struggle... but it really does get easier over the years. And the benefits of sobriety are many, rich and varied. For one thing... I get myself into far fewer lame and stupid situations. I have many fewer regrets than I used to. And I get to make fun of the stoned and drunk people at social gathering... sometimes right to their faces!

There are days when I wish I could just have a glass of wine, or a good beer, or a shot of tequila.... but I know that way lies madness. So it's good that you have recognized that about your flirtation with the beast.

I have found that dancing and sex are good substitutes. I would imagine playing music is one as well, but I don't do that as much these days.

Here's to sobriety, young man. Good on ya.

'just listen to steve' Albert! You've just successfully named:

-my upcoming self help book for 'the ladies'.

-The name of my upcoming proposal for Global domination.

-The mantra that all of the members of my soon to be formed religious cult will say at least three times per hour (it was going to be per second, but I'm feeling benevolent today)

& of course will most likely be the advice that I will give for solving all of the worlds' problems :D

Sierra Just watch. Your gonna be famous & have every song you ever wrote on the top 100 hitlist as #1 & its all becuz you didnt go to dat party. We all have our dark secrets. Like me, I'm a computer addict. Right after I'm done with homework, I go on the comp. Its not as bad as it used to be but we all have problems & we eventually find a solution that helps us pull us through. Your gonna make it king! Sometimes donald, the urges never go away but 'what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger'. The more urges you get & the more you resist just goes to show how strong & independent you are. And when you get married *if u arent already*,you'll be able to tell your kids one day "you can do anything you set yur mind to" & kno becuz u resisted, you made another person strong as well.
When it comes down to addictions, it all relys on our will power & state of mind. ^^

For the love of god DO NOT LISTEN TO STEVE! He's so hopped up on caffine you can't understand him anyway... Just smile and nod King, smile and nod.

Charissa (dakinigrl) listen to Steve with the ball gag in his mouth. That's the only time you can trust what he says.

James (signal20) Odd, I love all my addictions! Though they might not love me ;-) .

Not to sound ungrateful, but no balls in the mouth please!

Was there no one else that could rise to the challenge? It's good to see Nancy's D.A.R.E money hasn't gone to waste.
My god.

Kudos to you King. Having been able to sprinkle 'healthy' doses of addiction on my daily bowl of Sugar Smacks for most of my life, I know where you're coming from. So much so that it took an amazing group of talented, compassionate, intelligent friends to flee to the 4 corners of the country to reign in their own demons (okay, maybe not the southeast, but...can you blame them?). It took years for them to realize that they are what they are without the aid of synthetic escapism. (not to discourage!)

Besides, just think about how much cable porn you can catch up on during those long, rainy Saturday nights.

Post Script: I hate the fact that I had to rejoin this group just to take the bait of the clueless. 'What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger'??? please
