Just completed #8 (bus) - The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne. I really enjoyed Boyne's writing! There were some beautiful images he conveyed. Overall, I liked the story, but I found it hard to connect with the characters. I liked them more towards the end, but I just couldn't sink into the story as I wanted. The history it conveyed, however, was stark and important. I received this book as a free giveaway in exchange for my honest review. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars3/24

Just completed #9 (self-improvement) - Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I had a difficult time connecting with this book in the beginning, but about a quarter of the way through, i became intrigued and by halfway, I was completely hooked! It is so well-written with really odd, interesting characters! Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars4/24
Updated post 18-- a novel involving an instrument I wish I could play (violin)-- From Sand and Ash4/24
4/1213. A novel set in a snow land: The Ice Beneath Her
Appropriate, since I'm in Ohio and we're getting a big storm right now.
Just completed #15 (garden) - Beastly by Alex Finn. I liked this contemporary, YA telling of Beauty and the Beast. It got a little schmaltzy at the end, but overall, it was entertaining. I particularly appreciated the growth she showed in the main character. Worth reading! 3.5 stars5/24

2. Read a book involving a creative outlet - Saints and Misfits by S. K. Ali (she is creating her own graphic novel)
Just completed #3 (food you haven't tried) - Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler. Maybe it was the author's plan, or maybe just her writing progressed, but the writing was half-formed at the start and became much clearer towards the end of the book. Either way, it made for a confused beginning. Like I said, she might have been mirroring the progression of the main character, but I did not find it incredibly enjoyable. I did like the description of the restaurant life. and her descriptions of food, taste, and drink were impeccable. I'm intrigued enough to check out the show. Worth reading. 3.5 stars6/24
