An overview of literary references to advanced technologies in the Ramayana

Introduction

At the time of creating this discussion thread, the topic of the use of advanced technologies by the characters in the Ramayana is being hotly debated in the daily newspaper. But this thread is not intended to add fuel to the fire. The main goal of this thread is :

Many people may be surprised to know that there are references to the Ramayana in books written by Westerners who are convinced of it's historical validity ! While these books cannot be classified as hard evidence of the use of advanced technologies in the Indian epics, nevertheless they contain much food for thought as they present a totally different picture of the life and times of that period in Indian history. So let's take a look at them with an open mind. This thread is also open, particularly, to books containing scientific evidence ( from any discipline ) of technologically advanced prehistoric civilizations from anywhere in the world.

If you have read the free excerpt in Michael's web site, you would have noticed the following interesting claim :

The startling observation is that the people of the Rama Empire were technologically more advanced than the people who lived when the Mahabharata took place !
