Im looking for a book my mother read during her childhood in the 60's-early70's but the book came out before that, not sure when though I'm sorry. It was a children's book that was sort of magical realism because the animals could talk, I want to say that they lived in a small village (possibly England?) and they went on an adventure and I also remember they had a funny name for cars, my mom calls cars this name all the time and sadly I cant remember what that name is either. I really want to get this book for her Christmas but I cant think of the name without asking her and making it obvious, also, I have an inclination that it may have been 'The Wind in the Willow'?

Not trying to be funny, but has she ever called a car a “poop-poop.”That's what Toad calls it when he first encounters one:
“Toad sat straight down in the middle of the dusty road, his legs stretched out before him, and stared fixedly in the direction of the disappearing motor-car. He breathed short, his face wore a placid, satisfied expression, and at intervals he faintly murmured "Poop-poop!"

Ahh! You may have it, I'm pretty sure she say's hrew doo doo or Haroo da doo, something along those lines! thanks for your help :)

Oh! This is Watership Down! The rabbits refer to any motorized vehicle (car, train, truck, tractor etc.) as a "hrududu."

Just to confirm, is Watership Down by Richard Adams your book?
