The author's military status does not matter, the main character or subject of the book must be an active-duty or former member of the armed forces of any nation.

The main character is an ex marine. It's noted in the description of books 1 & 3, but is not so clear on the main page of book 2.

If the military connection is not obvious from the book's main page include a reference when you post.
You can use the marine reference in book 1 or 3 for book 2.

She is a part of MI5 not sure if that is considered armed forces."
According to politics.co.uk
"Although the "MI" stands for "Military Intelligence", MI5 is a civilian agency without formal executive powers."
MI5 and MI6: "They do not form part of the British armed forces nor are they under the control of the Ministry of Defence and do not use military ranks."

"Mission #732: Improve my reputation as a badass so people don’t make stupid requests. To those who wondered, while some preferred keeping mental notes, Kyle resorted to thinking of things in terms of missions, a throw over from his military days. Some he completed successfully, such as Mission #713, getting Betty-Sue to give him a piece of her famous apple pie. Success! Others he failed, like Mission #714, his attempt at getting a second piece resulting in bruised knuckles from her infamous wooden spoon."

Is there a reference to their military status? Without identifying info "special forces" alone doesn't work.

A main character would need to be present throughout most of the story so if her soldier is lost to her through most of the book he would not qualify.
