Mark Sutton | 2 comments I read this book in the 70's around the same time as bottersnikes and Gumbles was about, but before Fungus the Bogeyman.

The book included illustrations, the cat Mercedes was illustrated as tall and thin, and was black I think with a white belly, much like the "Le Chat Noir" posters.

There may have been a factory involved and a man with a moustache, I think that the charachters drove around in an old car, much like an old 1920's rolls royce. The story mught have been set in a desert like land. It was not a "realistic" novel, ie I think Mercedes could talk.

Cheers
Mark

Picture book or chapter book?
Author's gender?

Mark Sutton | 2 comments Hi, thanks,

It was a thin novel, with the occasional illustration embedded in the text, with around 100 pages or so I think. I do not remember the authors gender.

Cheers
Mark
